It was eight years ago, but I had a wedding & reception at the Imperial Palace - we had about 60 for $2K.
Have you tried the Wedding Room - http://theweddingroom.com/services.htm
and here's a list of ALL the banquet rooms in town

I got married at Texas Station. The wedding and reception were both held there. They did a great job. The wedding coordinator "Lupe" was fantastic, she handled everything. Layout for reception, photographer everything went as planned with no surprises. The price was pretty resonable as well and they had many options to choose from. Good luck!

hi there - you could try one of the larger venues like Victorias or The Grove where they can cater for large parties for a wedding ceremony and reception. They're also more reasonably priced than some of the hotels.
Alternatively, try using the website below that lets you search every wedding package by cost, and search almost 100 reception venues by cost and cuisine.
I hope you find what you want - good luck!

I think its truly a bloody shame weddings have gone out of control in this country...$10,000-$20,000...really now.
Whatever happened to being married in a scenic garden and having champagne and cake and that's it? WHY must there ALWAYS be this sitdown, long affair lasting hours on end?
I think in this day and age, I would have a small family ceremony, cake and champage...save my money, then send out announcements for a blowout party at some point in an affordable place - maybe even a private mountain camp of some sort with a barbeque and swimming with just my friends for an afternoon...I really do.
I had 300 people in an evening wedding and I did not want it - my folks did and to this day, remember little of it (my sister had eloped on the back of a motorcycle TO Vegas - leaving ME the only daughter left and Mom REALLY wanted A WEDDING...you guessed it, I was the only daughter left!)
You need to seriously think about this - make it YOUR day, but don't break the bank for show/conformity/style - DO YOUR OWN THING AND MAKE IT INTERESTING, DIFFERENT!

I hate to say this, but $30 per person is very reasonable. Cheaper than that would probably have to be a private hall or park for rent, and private catering.
It's not my very favorite web site, but TheKnot has a lot of fairly useful info, including local venues.

wow 30 bucks a person is pretty cheap at least where i live (Northeast). around here we average $70 a plate!
suggestions - got any land to have a tent setup and have the wedding there? you could have a buffet instead of a sit down.

The court house and the reception at the hotel. If you have your own place have it there or a friends. Save the money for future honeymoon.

Check with churches and their ladies' organizations, who often cater and their food is always great! Often a church has a hall as well.
