I was an athiest for a long time... here's the truth, and I am sure some will agree.

Athiests believe that there is no god, so therefore, the answer lies in the logic and the most concrete things in life. Well, life always throws a curve ball and we don't alwasy have a clear answer no matter how hard or long we think. Many times all hope is lost. When you are desperate, you will look for anything that gives you hope even if you don't think GOD. I have recently come to accept that there is a higher power who listens to you and gets you through the rough. I am waiting to get to a higher ground right now, but I know that I can't do it alone.

There are only so much friends and family or even yourself can do. That's why there's hope and hope comes when we look at some higher power which we may or may not understand.

Honestly your probably here for just about what everyone else is here for. To learn about what others think about on a specific subject. We are all free to think as we wish, and have our own opinions. I do not believe in god, but I honestly like having a good conversation with somebody who believes differently then I do, and seeing the reason they believe the way they do. Im not here to find a god, I dont believe that atheisim is a religion. The definition of religion is the belief in some sort of divine power. If you are atheist, its not that you believe in nothing, but that you lack belief in any divine power. I have my own beliefs though they vary from other people.

This is a place for all people to share their opinions on their religious beliefs or lack there of.

YOu're not being rude but I think you know the answer but are trying to shove words in their mouth.

THe obvious reason is that this is where the debates are. Homophobic people post in the lesbian, gay and transgender category anyway.

There is no category for athiesm because there is no unifying factor (negative factors, as NOT believing in God doesn't count) so technically, their involvement in all categories, inclluding Religion and Spirituality is of interest to them.

Man, am I glad I have that leftover rum in the fridge *drinks*
Its because people ask questions to atheists (like this one). Also, I was raised Christian, so I know a thing or two about religion.

Mostly because it gives me a sense of awe at the ignorance in the posts coming from cultists of a carpenter who supposedly lived a couple of thousand years ago. You live your lives based on a book written hundreds of years after the supposed events. They were written by man but are the word of an imaginary bearded man and despite so many inconsistencies you pick and choose which parts you live your lives by. Mostly you cultists make me laugh.

Religion is not spirituality. It is a part of spirituality.

Spirituality is merely a concern of things of the spirit. The spirit is not just about religion. Other things such as the purpose of life also come from the spirit.

~~~star,,,,, I'm not a Nazi but I study World War ll. I'm not a Communist but I study the Vietnam War. I've never been served in The Military. I do both because when I voice my opinion, I KNOW what I'm talking about, which brings me to the following suggestion,,, FYI: By Definition, Atheism in NOT a religion.
Well, there isn't really a philosophy section, so this is as good as any I suppose. And, just maybe it's the prompting of the holy Spirit that leads them here so they can hear/read some Good News. So why don't all we Christians behave as Christ taught us to and meet them where they are instead of chatising them for where we think they "ought to be?"
Snorking down a gulp of my protein shake....
Because I'm also Buddhist (which is essentially atheist) plus the fact that I've studied other religions in significant depth... so that puts me on the playing field (another Die Hard 2 quote, can you tell I miss Sho Nuff McClain?).
Questions don't show up only in Religion and Spirituality. They show up on the general board, where anyone is free to answer them.
