There's this video by the American Family Association that says so, titled "The Day They Kicked God Out of School," and of course that argument is made frequently.
http://www.afr.net/newafr/wekickedgodout.asp
But...kids are allowed to say grace at lunch, do activities like See You At the Pole (praying around the flagpole--I organized the first at my former school), pass out tracts, have Bible Clubs, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and other groups, wear their symbols, etc. Plus God, according to the people who tend to allege this, is supposed to be omniscent and all-powerful, so he can't get kicked out of any place anyway.
So why say this, let alone make a video about it?

No, the Abrahamic God was NOT "kicked out", others are just taking their CONSTITUTIONAL right to have THEIR God(s)/dess(es) brought in as well.
But this scares the AFA - they're afraid that their children will not believe what they've told them to believe, and that they'll switch religions or drop belief altogether.
What scares people of other religions, however, is the knowledge of history and the fact that certain religions HAVE, in the past, done horrendous things to people on behalf of what THEY believe, even if it is untrue, and those people are usually the ones in power, and the ones who try to say that times were "better" under one religion.
Were times REALLY better during our grandparents/great-grandparents time? There were still killings, still rapes, still spousal abuse, still bigotry....Some women still asserted their right to be equal, there were homosexuals, there were bi-racial marriages. In short, times were no better or worse than they are now, people were just SHAMED from being honest with themselves - they didn't want to hear the truth.
We are moving, now, into a time where some people actually DO want to know the truth, in fact, they are ready for it. Who does AFA think they are to deny us that? You are right, so long as Christians are equally allowed to practice their belief alongside people of other beliefs (or of none), then their God will NEVER be kicked out.

They try to think that they're being oppressed and are rebellious. People love the underdog even though it's the other way around.
Use the person above me as an example...
This country was not founded under god have you studied history why did so many people come here in the first place? To escape a certain church that opposed therer religion on others hmmm. The ten commandments should be moved they were made and brought down the mountain by a MUDERER SHOULD WE HAVE MANSON QUOTES EVERYWHERE? People who defend the ten commandments obviously have not read the bible if they don't understand why they're offensive to non Christians or Jews.

"Well prayer is being stopped in schools all across the country and also the ten commandemnts are being removed from public buildings and schools. All in an attempt to not offend Muslims"
How stupid is that!!! Prayer in school was stopped long before now. It has nothing to do with Muslims. It has to do with the fact that they were saying Christian prayers and many of the children were Jewish, or of other faiths.
Get off the Muslim bashing bandwagon, they have nothing to do with it!!!! Good Grief!!!!!!
God, meaning religion has no place in public school. It belongs at home with the family and in church, temple or other places of worship.
It is fine if a child wants to say a private prayer before eating their food, just so long as they don't make a big deal about it and try to force others to do so. If a child wants to take a moment of silence before the beginning of school that is fine too, same restrictions.
The point is that there should be no proselytizing at all within secular schools. Period!

God is omniscent and all-powerful but He is also a true gentleman and will not go where He is not welcome. THAT is where we get that God was kicked out of school.
Thanks to groups like the ACLU who have administrators cowering in fear, He is generally not welcome into the public school domian. Who could blame them, if I were an administrator I would much rather spend funding on teaching the students than tying it up in court costs and lawyer fees. However, thanks be to organizations as the AFA you were allowed to organize that See you at the Pole. If the ACLU had their way about it, See you at the Pole and all other activities you listed would call for prosecution and disbanned. What's more, as a group called the American Civil Liberties Union you would think that they would ensure Christians would be able to carry out their responsibility to "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel," since God loves every last person on this earth, good or bad, that He sent the only son he ever had to die in such a degrading manner, a death reserved for only the lowest of the low--bottom of the barrel criminals, that if we simply believe that Jesus is God's Son-the one and only Messiah-in our heart of hearts we will NOT have to burn for eternity in Hell, but get to live eternally in Heaven. "The world" includes schools, too.
I apologize for going off on a tangent, but if it helps one person then it was worth it.
For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.
HOW MANY MORE LIVES ARE WE GOING TO LOSE FOR THE SAKE OF BEING POLITICALLY CORRECT?

Their comfort in a long held tradition of religious predominance in every public arena was smashed and their religous egos were hurt.
But as our society gets more diverse and tries to ensure ALL are given equal opportunity, not just Christians or believers, certain people are just going to have to become more MATURE in their spirituality and recognize that it is really a PERSONAL thing.

If he was "kicked out" of ANY PLACE by humans, that's a pretty weak God.
The real God can't be silenced. He's too big to take on. What these bigots really mean is that their opinion isn't bowed down to. It has nothing to do with God.

They say it because it sounds better to them than the truth: they were no longer unfairly allowed to promote their religion to everyone through the public schools.

We can kick God out of our hearts. It does not matter if you have posters on every wall with scriptures on them, if Christ is not dwelling in your heart and you have not Him enthroned within, all outward appearances of godliness will we worse than spent. If Satan is teaching his principles in the school, then we should not allow the children which God has given us gaurdianship over to sit another his teachings, a hellish torch that lights the way to death. It seems, mostly, that the only safe route is to teach your children yourself to make sure that "that old serpent" does not breath his hellish breath upon them and snatches their hearts.

Pure propaganda.
It's very sad. It detracts from more important things such as continued harrassment of children by their peers over differences.
