I am learning Spanish, and I also know some basic Portuguese. I was thinking of taking a Portuguese course. Would learning both languages at the same time help or would I end up confused?

Don't do it. Master one and then give the other a go. You will be really confused if you attempt both at once. Why not try a language from another language group instead?

Unless you are primarily motive on dwelling in or on the whole travelling both Brazil or Portugal, wherein case study Portuguese, then study Spanish. Spanish is an international language and is spoken in nations around the globe. It may be a predominant language in industry and trade and in addition many individuals recognise Spanish as a moment or 3rd language. Also, in case you do turn out to be finding out a fourth language as good, might I advise that you just recollect French and German earlier than Portuguese? Both French and German are once more predominant industry languages and can more commonly aid you greater than Portuguese.

Take care to not confuse them. It's the major difficult for me. I'm Brazilian so I speak Portuguese. I can understand Spanish but I don't dare speaking . Closeness between languages leads to mistakes. Do you know Spanglish ? The same thing happens here - the Portuñol "language" : Portuguese mixed with Spañol

It'll be easy to pick up Portuguese grammar, but even easier to mix up words between the two languages. I'm taking Spanish at my high school and teaching myself Brazilian Portuguese (I'm going to be an exchange student in São Paulo in 2 months)! It's easy to confuse the 2 @ times!!

Just u ll know it, because it depends just of the person who is learning is capable, of course ll be harder learn both at the same time
I suggest u don't get hold on grammatic because both are complex and many things are useless even for who the first language is Portuguese or Spanish
The best for u is listen listen 'n listen talk talk 'n talk read is good too

Boa sorte!!!

You'll catch the grammar very easily because they are kind of similar.
The vocabulary will give you trouble though because you'll mix up the words.
