Cream and sugar is a terrible thing to do to a perfectly good cup of coffee.
Cream and sugar don't take away any of the caffeine. However, some of the volume of your cup is taken up by the cream and sugar so it holds less actual coffee.

I prefer to have just a splash of cream because I can't handle the acidity.
The sugar and cream probably won't take away from the caffeine except that they cause a carb high that then goes down...possibly dragging the caffeine down as well.
Try to go black if you can!

Black all the way. If im going to drink coffee, i want to taste it for what it is. I was raised to drink straight, black, no bullsh!t, coffee. And if the coffee is good, it should actually taste better black. Cream and sugar just diguise the flavor.

The sugar could be making your blood sugar drop shortly afterwards, which would take away some of the energizing effect.

Coffee is extremely healthy, sugar and cream is bad and worse.

Well, a good friend of mine likes to say: "coffee is for drinking, not putting sh*t in".
I don't know the real answer to that, but I have noticed the same thing myself. Black coffee gives me a little more kick...
