Choose high fiber over all. Fruits and veggies are the most you should put on the plate they should take up 2/3. you only need 3-4ounces of protein aday and if you need carbs choose again high fiber as in wheat pastas and breads and go easy remember the saying a "moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips" it still holds true. Cut out refined sugars and sodas. My husband stopped drinking pop for 4 weeks and has lost now 15 pounds.

Breakfast: 1 cup cheerios with 1/2 cup skim and 1 piece whole wheat toast ff creamchez, 1 cup OJ, water
or
1 boiled egg, 1 slice ww toast and 1 cup cooked oatmeal with pk of sweetnlow, 1 cup OJ,water

Lunch: 2 cups of salad greens, 1 oz of drain tuna, 5 ff crackers and 1 small apple, water
or
1 garden burger patty, 1 ww hamburger bun, lettuce and tomato, 1 tsp mayo, carrot sticks, pear, water

Dinner: 3 oz of steak, chicken or pork cooked on grill, boiled or broiled, serve with greenbeans, small bakepotato, water
or
1 cup couscous with asparagus, 2oz chicken chunks grilled and tossed with pineapple and bell pepper, water or crystal lite

Exercise: I suggest start out slow with brisk walks 20 min daily with 10 min of stretching. Work up to jogging or circut training. In the long run a slow start and getting used to it will last much longer.

For the past 3 weeks I have been doing the Atkins diet which is a high protein, low carbohydrate diet, and so far I have lost 11 1/2 pounds. I also take my dog and walk for 30 minutes each day. The Atkins diet is not for everyone though; I have friends who have tried it and quit after the first couple of days because they did not like the way it made them feel. Also, you have to be careful not to cut too many carbs out of your diet, or you will feel tired and notice a definite decrease in your energy level. Also, you have to follow a maintenance plan (if you choose to do the Atkins diet) once you have lost your desired amount of weight, or you will regain the weight at a rather fast pace. The main thing is to change your eating habits and make sure you are eating healty. Best of luck to you!

first, stay away from junk food, all junk food.. chips, candy, soda, chocolate, ice cream, etc. etc.. these are all high fat, simple carbs,
other examples of high fat foods- hamburgers, mayonaise, salad dressings, any fried food such as french fries, chicken fingers,
examples of simple carbs- sugar, ice cream, chocolate, candy, juice,
good carbs to eat are vegetables, whole grains, oatmeal, brown rice, any grain products that are not processed, stay away from grains that are made of white flour such as white bread, pasta, etc..
any exercise is better than none, try to do at least 3 days a week , 30 minutes each of cardio work.. jogging, swimming, elliptical runner, if you are not at this level yet, then do brisk walking.. you can also do resistance training with weights to help your progress along.. this is a vague answer but i hope it clears things up a little for ya.. feel free to email any specific questions..

Breakfast-Fiber One, peanut butter (2 tbsp) 1/2 banana on a low carb wrap Lunch--grilled chicken salad & ranch dressing Dinner-grilled meat (chicken, beef, pork) and a steamed vegetable. No sodas, no sugar, and diet coke & rum for night time pleasure. This is a typical day for me. And do whatever exercise you can commit to. Only you know what that is. I walk and do weights for me arm and I do sit ups.

Deep fried mars bars have a lot of fat and simple carbs.

I think you probably want to avoid that sort of food.

If you want to lose fat and tone up, eat more protein, lower (but not 0) fat, and more complex carbs.

Basically eat lean meat, eggs, lots of vegetables, fruit (not juice), whole grains, etc.
