I had an appendectomy in 06, and now it is april of 07. I have gained a total of 10 lbs since the surgery and I have done nothing different with my eating habits. I am very energetic and have quite a high metabolism. I excersize as much as I can too. I don't know where it's coming from. The only other thing it may be is, I'm on 10mg of Zyrtec for seasonal allergies. Does anyone have any knowledge about my problem.. Thanks for any help

I don't think that u gain weight due to appendectomy because most of those having appendectomy don't eat good and have no appetite to eat because there is kind of injury in there intestin.even when u eat u can't as much as u ate before surgery.
I can say that u gain weight due to zyrtec because it's known that most medicines for allergy has cortizon as main content and cortizon is known to cause water retension in the body ans so increasing ur weight.
I just advice u to not worry because once u finish ur course of zyrtec u will loose those extra lbs.just keep being healthy and energetic

yes, any time you have a surgical procedure your out of commision and not up to par. You eat and not move therefor you gain wieght. And too if they put you on a steroid for swelling it will cause a significant gain.
