i ask offensive questions all the time and have never been reported. i think the difference is not to make them personal or just plain insulting, but ask in a manner that causes others to have to think before they respond

you should start with the question with 'To All :' and then christians / atheiests etc.
You also exclude some groups in the heading of the question. next make some firm statement but dont overdo it, it should look real. Next respond on the answers immediately. just try tomorrow.

I think it depends on the question and how controversial the topic is- what one perceives as objectionable may not be to someone else- just be careful and follow the guidelines.
