Could the thing be nuclear bombs ? Whereas the first bomb was detonated on July 16, 1945: and in [21 days] the bomb is first used on mankind, on Aug, 6 1945. Is this what was to befall the people in the latter days...

I do not think so. What would the bombs dropped in WWII have to do with Persia. The angel was taking about spiritual or heavenly warfare. I think the point of the story is that Daniel's pray was not answered right away because there were other things going on, in this case a battle of angels.
