I detect a lot of hostility towards your question! Could it be that you've got them thinking?

Some of you have good points, and I don t really understand the basis of others. To me, God is whatever we perceive, that s the power of the mind. Take a Christian; Christ is the son of God, a perception of perfection, and God is the ultimate perfection, immune from the fates of time and decay. Things most of us wish to be. Now take people like myself, and many others; God can so easily be defined as the nature of reality. His language, written out in the universe, are the tongues of math and physics, the mind is God, it creates God, and was created by God. Because we can perceive, because we can understand, and especially because we do not know why, God is and isn t and was and will be. The debate should stop be battling a version of God against another. If one person believe this, it is because God came to him in that face, with those words, because he understands how that person would understand, the perfect for of empathy. If someone believes in something else, it is only because God wears many faces. So, if you believe there is a Hell, and you believe you have done wrong and are afraid of it; you are already living there, in a world of unconsciousness, where you ve left the mind to fate instead of taming the bull, and this Hell you have created you are already adding rooms too, each new day letting the bull free in the fields, instead of taking the reigns. The whip may be required, but we were given the ability to use it for a reason. God is nothing, as some believe, he is everything as others believe, he is what helps us sleep at night. If you think there is a heaven then fine, if you don t then okay; let each man die by what he believes, in the end we all are inherently afraid of the same thing, no longer being conscious and aware, and so we ve created a place that we never have to lose that great sense of Self . Remember, He says to his people, Judge not lest ye be Judged. I choose to follow my own path, believe in my own wisdom, and live life without fear; that is my God.

The teachings about hell found in the Bible and espoused in Christianity were not part of Christ's ministry, but were added in by ignorant people, and those wanted to scare people into giving their power away to the church. This led to a distortion of Christ's identity and purpose that will be corrected when He returns, and through direct revelation to those who pray for the truth. It would make more sense to ask, is the reason why nonchristians are not worried, or are repelled by Christianity because some of what is being taught is simply not true, and this has turned a lot of people off? People can feel the truth in their gut. Christianity has done more to push people away from Christ than it had to bring people to Him, but it has played an interesting historical role that will soon be revealed. The conditions of hell are self imposed and not God imposed. That is all one needs to know to understand what hell really is. God's love is unconditional.

Sigh. Let's say you're wrong and only muslims are going to heaven and everybody else is going to hell. Shouldn't you become one just in case?
Pascal's wager:
"If god exists, it's infinitely better to believe, since you get heaven instead of hell for eternity. If he doesn't, it doesn't matter since you're dead anyway. So overall it's better to believe"
This is, of course, false.
Some of the problems with the argument:
* The implied assumption that god may exist (with a 50% probability, no less!)
* The assumption that there is an afterlife with a heaven and hell
* The assumption that the god cares about belief in him/her above all else
* The assumption that if you believe in a god, it will definitely be the same god that actually exists.
* The assumption that you lose nothing if it's false. You have lost a great deal, from time praying to a nonexistent entity (some people pray several hours a day!!!) to morality (your god may ask you to hurt other people) and much more besides.
* The assumption that people can believe in something simply because it benefits them. Would you believe goblins exist for twenty bucks? Why not?
* The assumption that any god won't see through the "believing just to get into heaven" ploy.

I heard an interesting theory once. It said that most people who call themselves christian aren't really christian. Think about it this way- If you absolutely believed that you were about to get hit by a Mac truck, what would you do? You'd move, right? So it said that the only people that really believe in God are the ones who have dedicated their lives to him, and that everyone else just may get hit by that truck.
Now, about me. I really don't know what I am, but God's teachings are great moral lessons, if nothing else. (love thy neightbor, don't kill, such and so forth) So you can follow (most of) God's moral code without being christian. Its possible to be a good non-christian without going agianst his teachings too much. According to Dante, there is even a mild level of hell reserved for moral non christians, where the only misery is knowing that you'll never be with God, but life is good besides that. I'm not too worried about it!

And once again Pascals' Wager rears it's ugly head. Thanks I needed another drink. Anyway believing just in case isn't a good reason to believe in the Christian god. That's the cowardie way of living life. To be quite honest with you that's why I think that many Christians are Christians in the first place for fear of going to hell. That's so very lame. Besides Pascal's Wager is garbage. Check out the Atheist's Wager that's a much better wager.

Let's just say that the sun is going to explode. Aren't you worried about what will happen to you? Maybe you should build a space ship and leave this planet, just in case.
You can "Let's just say ..." any silly hypothesis you want. The fact remains that god does not exist, nor does hell or heaven or any of those other mystical places.
You're suggesting something close to Pascal's Wager, which has been refuted.

Regardless whether or not Christians are proven to be correct, which I seriously doubt given the amount of conflict existing among their various sects, I have zero desire to spend eternity among the devout and pious in Heaven! I shall take my chances in Hell among my friends, relatives, and apparently many of the nontheists from Qs & As. And, by the way, your question is just another form of Pascal's wager; you are advocating that we believe in the improbable event that god is indeed whom you claim him to be? My policy is to live dangerously and irreverently and face the consequences!

actually im not worried. im a beleiver, but not a christian.
im glad u asked this question,
im a muslim, and why would i go to hell
for covering myself tfor modesty and to prevent adultary spreading, well mary pbuh used to dop that.
or is it for beleiving that there is one god almighty, and there is heaven and hell. well jesus pbuh beleived that
or is it for beleiving that jesusu was god messenger , and the son of mary, well he said that himself. or if u dont agree, we still lovge him and we listen to every word he sid, and beleive in all his miracle, we just dont consider him the son of god. i dont see whats so cruel about that that deserves hell.
or is it for saying that the fundemental 5 things in religion are porayiong to god, paying charity, and fasting to feel with the poor, and pilgrimating to god?
or is it because muslims are told that they will not be muslims until they love for each other what they love for themselves.
and sometimes u know, u just know and beleive , without any single doubt, that islam is the right way. and thats how im not worried.
( i can tell what ur answer is gonna be, but i beg u dont make it as predictable as some people do) but here i am all peaceful to u,
we even say that muslims are only 2/3 of the people going to heaven. and the rest one third, are christians and jews that followed the righteous way of jesus christ and have been bestowed by gods mercy. by the way, thats considering in my religion, that he prpphets were all muslims, and there followers back in the days.
so im not necessarily prejudging u to go to hell, why should u???? does ur religion say that? well if it does, then i have what jesus word for word, in the quran, and thank god, its not humanly changed, and he didnt say ill go to hell.
so im safe.... as long as im a muslim

No, and here's why.
I'd rather be in hell with something that consistently hates everyone than in heaven with a god that picks and chooses who he likes and hates based on his own bigotry.
I'm a Spiritual Agnostic btw, and don't believe in heaven or hell or the devil and neither you nor I know the true nature of "God" or even if there IS one.

Well, PASCAL, my answer to you is this:
You assume that God rewards belief
You assume Christianity is the only religion that makes such a claim
If I did believe, just in case, that would not be a true belief
And you assume that one can choose a belief.
You should live your life and try to make the world a better place for your being in it, whether or not you believe in God. If there is no God, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind. If there is a benevolent God, he will judge you on your merits and not just on whether or not you believed in him
