This guy is weird - just met him a month ago in one of my clases, this is what he'll do:
- when we first met, his approach was being "intersted" in who my teacher was and the HW load (we had 2 wks in the quarter left...so who cares, right?)
- he gave me a butt bump and winked
- he called me b/c he felt bad he didn't "help me"
- he sounds awkward on the phone when he's leaving me a VM (not real - like a guy who's trying to hard to impress)
- he laughs at everything i say
- asks my best friend about a guy that i like and if we're going out
- he was MUGGING/ giving him the eye when he saw the guy
- i think he's pushing my buttons by saying, "yeah you're a good girl, but you just seem sooo innocent to me..."
- the girl i am at school is not my full personality - i don't dress and act the way i usually do at school
- i'm in my early 20's and he's in his mid-late 20's - what would a guy that old want to have to do anything with a girl so "nieve" and "young" like me?

- we'll have the same conversations over and over because he doesn't even remember what we'll talk about - one little thing but "forgets" the overall concept - i don't even talk "deep" with him
- we don't even talk outside of class
- called me during break to "see what was going on"
- my guy friends think this guy here just for "a s s" and my girl friends think he's "nice"
- he's outgoing with EVERYONE but when it comes to me, he's so indirect and quiet, he won't even come up and say "hi"

He must really like you. If he was only interested in having sex with you he would be alot more aggresive. If he was a player, he would be doing the same thing to other girls. Because you are shy and naive, he probably doesn't know exactly what to do to get a date with you. I am sure he is sincere. He is trying to keep the door open so that you will make the next move which would give him hope of getting a date with you. Guys are funny about rejection. They lurk around, usually saying and doing all the wrong things, waiting for a glimmer of hope that the girl likes him back. As long as there appears to be a boyfriend in the picture, they will usually hang on the sidelines waiting it out. He obviously really likes you alot. Be kind and just let him down easy if you know there is no future there. As soon as he knows that there is no hope, he will move on. Guys do not take hints, so you might as well talk to him. Tell him that he seems to be a really nice guy, but you are involved right now in a serious relationship and that you are not interested in dating anyone else. Come out and say that you realize that he is interested in you but, as sorry as you can be, you are just not interested in the same way. That way you both leave the situation with dignity. Get used to it, because it will happen many times in your life. Learning how to communicate with people is part of maturing. Good luck to you and your future.

You've answered your own question and always go with your first thought. This guy is a emotional wreck (for you) just waiting to happen. Try having a straight up conversation even though you've already said "he barely pays attention" but try asking him "what's up? is this physical or is it real? You should be able to tell if he's sincere.
