So, Pat Tillman, the NFL player who went off to war and then got killed, his brother came forth and accused the military of deliberate and careful misrepresenting how Pat died. I remember when the news was first out about Pat. It was like ‘This hero died for his country in an honorable way’ and that it was at the hands of our ‘enemies’ now its revealed he died at the hands of another US army man in the middle of random gunfire. Henry Waxman went on to say the government invented sensational details to spruce up the ‘honor’ in fighting and dying for this country.
So, here’s the question. If the government would lie about something so small, who’s to say what else they are lying about with this war? If the government really believed that there’s honor in fighting and dying for this country why’d they have to lie about an accidental murder and use it to gain peoples sorrow and loyalty?
Do you believe this war is more of a political movement for the gain of oil, money and power or an honorable necessary fight for freedom?

SGT. D here's your link, its USA Today, but can also be read on Yahoo! And Pat Tillman's brother, Kevin, served with him and was riding in the convoy behind Pat when he was killed. Is that 'serving' enough for you?

Hyungbinkim, thanks for hitting the nail on the head! This question is about embellishing information to increase patriotism.
M1a1mike, please read the article, read the article again LAME, the army was aware of it at the time of his death, Kevin Tillman is the one brining that information forward, along with Jessica Lynch brining her story forward, to show the government lies continuously to invoke patriotism.

Jessica Lynch testifed before a committee this morning explaining that all the "Rambo" pictures drawn by the government about her actions were lies.
Investigators have told us that gangs in the military of questionable loyalties are killing our soldiers via friendly fire. When we allow illegal immigrants or undocumented people to join our military, we have no way of knowing whose side they are truly on. If these people are lawless while they are on American soil, how can we trust them to be anything but lawless when they are not on American soil. Our government has let all our citizens down and, in particular, our soldiers. The government has failed to protect our borders and enforce our laws, it has failed to manage our money and has caused the USA to be bankrupt making us fair game for all these foreign takeovers of our businesses. The government refuses to answer how many of our soldiers have been killed by friendly fire but the number is not small. We know of a young female soldier who saved her superiors from death, got a medal but was sworn to secrecy that the fire that could have killed her and her superiors was "friendly".
We, the citizens, need to demand due diligence from our government. Cheney's mercenaries (employed by Halliburton) are quite likely Arab or of questionable loyalty. Why isn't his company paying them instead of charging American Citizens to protect their oil and corporate interests?
George Bush says the American people did not vote for us to fail in Iraq. Well, we didn't vote for his war, period! George Bush hired an Attorney General who is the son of migrant workers (Illegal immigrants) so what does that tell you about where his loyalties lie? Where does Gonzales' loyalties lie? Bush has promised to open our borders and give illegal lawbreakers pathways to citizenship -- clearly anti-american and clearly treasonous.
We should refuse to fund the war -- actually all we're funding is Halliburton and the private corporations. Our soldiers are not getting all the things they need to fight a good war. Halliburton and other corporations pay their mercenaries more than our soldiers are paid. How is that fair? Let's get our best and brightest and our loyal soldiers out of Iraq and Afghanistan and let Halliburton and the other corporations fight their own war. Let them pay to protect their oil. Let's concentrate on securing our own borders and rebuilding our own economy and infrastructure.
Wharton economists stated that even if the USA seized all property and sold it at auction to foreign investors, we'd still be short some 200 billion dollars. So why are we paying to finance a useless war that does nothing except take the lives of our sons and daughters and furthers the bankrupting of the USA?

The military covered up the true nature of Tillman's death because they were afriad that if the truth were told, support for military intervention in the Middle East would fall. I don't blame the military, though, as I'm sure they were ordered by the Bush administration to handle things the way they did. The whole Jessica Lynch debacle was perpetrated for similar reasons--keep the American public convinced that we are "kicking butt and taking names," and use the mythical tale of her heroism for jingoistic propaganda advantage. And those of you who are blaming the "liberals" or the "liberal media" for these travesties of truth, bear in mind who was in charge when the tales were told, and WHO TOLD THEM. The media simply repeated them...and FINALLY questioned them. The sad truth is that BOTH the liberals and the conservatives are using this war for propaganda, and for political gain...the conservatives are simply better at it.

Lame.
If you had bothered to actually read up on the scandal it was 'The Army' that investigated and discovered the false reports.
A few people made some false reports and you blame "the Army." What a loser.
As for Jessica Lynch - remember that the 'Rambo' reports were based on rumors that were repeated by a reporter after the Military warned him that those rumors could not be confirmed.

Pat Tillman knew the score when he joined. He's not asking for this. His brother obviously has a axe to grind like most Libbys do. Just what has his brother done to serve his country?? Who lied about how he was killed? I haven't heard that one. Is this more Libby trash talkin or can you post us a link to a story and i don't mean in some stupid Libby rag either. I hate to break this to you, but friendy fire accidents happen in wartime, combat is not the nice structured thing you seem to think it is. Accidents are nothing new in war so stop acting like they are.

GW is a follower of the Christian concept that if enough turmoil can be started in the middle east, read holy land, then the second coming of Christ will occur. His spiritual adviser is a baptist preacher in Fort Worth Texas, who preaches this dogma. These "believers" give money to both sides Palestinians and Jews to help keep their war going.
Oil is a factor but not the bases for this war.

If I were killed by friendly fire, I'd prefer my family to believe I died a hero fighting the enemy. The original story should never have been questioned, and the truth should never have been revealed for the good of the nation.

Our government is not what most of us would like to believe it to be. I am not sure what the solution is, certainly not embracing the socialist dogmas of the last century, but at least we need to elect politicians who are honest. This is a difficult task but should be the highest priority. I know some who claim that what a politician does in his or her private life has no relevance to how that individual might perform in public office. I disagree. What one does in private moments reveals the character of that person. Nothing could be more relevant. Integrity is the most important missing element in our government at this historic moment.
