As a nurse in a large hospital who spends a great deal of time taking care of the havoc wreaked by alcohol abuse, I think I can answer your question.
Most hospitals have cafeterias or machines that provide sodas, water, snacks etc. Can you imagine any hospital supplying alcohol to everyone who wanted it (notice I didnt say needed).
I feel for you because I know you must be upset about your dad, but please, for his sake, try to get through this without using alcohol.
I do like your attempt at humor, that's a much better coping mechanism. I hope your father recovers and lives a long life.
You too.

Be the one who makes the coffee - too strong. Talk to the other people who are trapped like you. Read, definitely.Rotate shifts with other friends/family members - too much waiting room makes me buggy . Play cards Buy some games from "Cheap *** Games - all you need to supply is dice or something like that (my kids and I whiled away many hours in a waiting room playing "Who's Got the Brain - a zombie game ) laptop ? The one thing that has saved me in that situation over the years has been being able to take a break - even to the cafeteria for some bad food ! Sorry to hear you are having to go through this - hope everything turns out for the best - love you, Ann

You know where google is, use it! :P Reseach "Obtaining a liquor license in ________(Enter your state or province here)"
In the meantime, look outside someone has to have a bar near there. A quick drink and be right back inside. You could try tea from the donut place, that usually calms nerves. I hope your dad is okay.

You're in a hospital, what did you expect? They are HEALTH professionals for God sake! There is no way they're gonna help people get drunk in their building. I know some people would just like to get 1 drink, but be serious, they can't afford the risk of some people taking too much and create problems...

try this and you are ripe to get sued. in addition to the reaction between alcohol and most medication, you'd crash the whole hospital's staff, coz believe me those people REALLY wanna have a drink, and have better reason to drink than most. then there's the problem of seriously drunk relatives demanding this and that. somebody had probably already have thought of this, and been shut down for obvious reasons.

The hospital doesn't want people getting drunk and unplugging the poor people. That would be bad. Very Bad!
However, if a person did get alcohol poisoning, they'd be in the right place...

I know you are joking but consider-emotions are already running high in the hospital setting-look at your own feelings. Can you imagine a bunch of drunks in that type of situation? Chaos...

you should not be serving beer at a hospital... its where people go to get better, the staff would not approve.
Liquor licenses cost $20,000
