How large? We have a large fish tank in our nursery, and it's so big, there is no way she can climb up on it or knock it over (it's 100 gallons and takes up the whole wall.) She loves it! I think it's completely safe. Trust me, I am the biggest worrier I know.
It's up on a stand, and very secure. The wires are completely hidden. The only danger is if she falls and hits her head on it, but she can do that anywhere.
It also adds humidity to the air, which is good.

I don't think it will be a problem.
Just watch the child and make sure the fishtank is not rocked back and forth, or hit with anything that could break the glass.
The child will learn with your patient instruction.

Just have it secure where your child can't reach it because it will be the first thing that your baby will want to see and touch.

as long as it is not within arms reach. and make it clear to your child that the tank is not a toy, it can be dangerous if he decides to play around the top..that he can only look at them.
