1. Insure that in the BIOS you have the boot order set to- boot from the CD ROM before the Hard Drive.
2. Insert Windows XP in the CD ROM drive.
3, Restart the computer
4. When the screen comes up asking if you want to boot form the CD hit any key.
5. During the XP Installation delete the partitions and format the hard drive. . Watch the screen carefully it will instruct you on what choices you have.
You want to delete the partition Vista is on and do a complete format of that partition. You can then set the partitions as you want them. Note this will wipe everything off the Laptop and you will start with a clean hard drive.
6. Continue with the Windows XP installation.

Since you just bought the laptop, you wouldn't be so much uninstalling Vista as erasing it and overwriting it with Windows XP. You will need to have a retail version of Windows XP. IF you have no data on the laptop that you want to keep, or have not transfered anything on to it as of yet, you can simply put the XP CD in your drive, making sure that your laptop is set to boot from the CD Drive and perform a regular WIndows XP installation. You will want to delete/overwrite any existing partitions and let Windows reformat the drive.
