pro Israel?

Doesn't he realize that if we bless Israel, God bless us & if we curse Israel, God curses us?

Flaming,

This is a promise from God to Abraham. God told this to Abraham. God doesn't go back on His Word. But as Christians, we are born into the family of God and also seeds of Abraham. That doesn't take away from Gods promises to Israel (seed of Abraham) who the Messiah was birthed from.

Former President Carter is a Christian, but his denomination teaches "Replacement Theology," i.e. that the Church has replaced the Jews as God's chosen people.

It's really sad when bad theology permits folks to wander so far from the truth, isn't it? I used to like the ol' guy, but as far as I'm concerned, I don't support ANYONE who doesn't support Israel.

EDIT: To "Joyful" and others -- read Mr. Carter's book. It's so anti-Israel it seems as if it was written by Mahmood Amadinajad. Here's a somewhat recent article:

Personally I don't believe Carter is much of a Christian but it isn't because of his Israeli viewpoint. He promotes a very secular, humanistic, liberal worldview. And he's got a BIGGER ego than Clinton or Rosie O' Donnell and he's all about putting on a show.

As for Israel, the New Testament does not support that line of thinking - blessing the national Israel. The true nation of Israel is the Church of Jesus Christ. Real Israelites are those who have the heart of faith (in Christ) - just like their father of the faith - Abraham. If you don't believe in Jesus the Messiah then you're not a true Israelite, even if you have Israeli blood in your veins. In God's eyes you can have Irish blood in your veins or Indian or Austrian but if you have you have the faith of Abraham in your heart then you are an Israeli. The same is true for those with Israeli blood who have the same heart of faith. It's an issue of the heart not the blood nor DNA.

Today's Israel - the 1 in the middle east has as much spiritual significance in the world today as New Zeeland, India, Sweeden or the United States. God deals with 2 nations basically - the church and the world. He deals with nations we see on the map in the context of bring forth His kingdom which is through His church.

I have always been told your life is like a book. Carter, his book shows he is none Christian even though he is suppose to be BIG in the church in Plains Georgia. Just being a member doesn't make you a christian.

Israel and the Jew is Gods chosen people and your right, he that turns their back on Israel will incur the wrath of God. Carter is going against all the teaching of Christianity in every way so he is either a non-christian, or suffering from Senile Dementia.

You should vote for whoever will do the best for this country. That isn't necessarily a Christian. A person's religion should not be a factor when you're voting.

You do realize that Israel is destroying the lives of the Palestinians on a daily basis, don't you? There has been evil done on both sides. It is not fair to support one and not the other. We should not support either one.

Carter I believe professes to be a Christian which I think his life seems to bear witness to.
I am a Christian and I do not vote for a man based on his religion as the job required is not being a minister but a leader of the country. I believe Mr. Carter was a great man of God but not necessarily a great president the two are not mutually inclusive. Christ did not teach a theocracy. God gave men free will and I don't think voting Christian morality will save the world. we do not seek to change the world through the laws of man but through the grace provided by the atonement of Jesus Christ.

Where did you come from? Jimmy Carter is far more a Christian in both word and deed than Mr. Bush. As far as Israel goes, If you want to see Israel blessed than you would want peace, the same motives as Mr Carter. I do not believe that those that want Israel to exist in order to bring about Armageddon are true believers in God.

Carter is probably the most Chriatian (in the positive sense of the word) president of the 20th century.

not all Christians agree on Israel. If you knew your US history, you'd know that many Christian groups openly harrassed Jews here in the US.
