Hi, for my husbands first fathers day i got him a personalized throw blanket with a saying about a dad and had his name and her name embroidered on it. This is a great way to personalize it for keeps. something to cherish for all times.

My first father's day gift was a winner - got to sleep in - and woke up to my son wearing a home-made "My Daddy Is The Best!" t-shirt. My wife had painted a picture frame with his handprint, we took a photo of us and it's sitting in that frame still.
Inexpensive, a little effort, and PERSONAL.
(don't forget the sleeping in part!)

It should be the other way around, he should give the mother gifts, the babies are not her maternal last name are they? Usually is the father that shows appreciation for what the mother went through, lots of pain you know?
