Peanut Butter is great! Okay, since you like it so much i would suggest you buy the low fat kind or the organic all natural kind then you can have more and not feel as guilty. Eat the peanut butter with something not with a spoon out of the jar and you'll be fine. Apples & peanut butter even things out and you'll love it!!!

Look on the jar, it's high in calories. How much you can eat without gaining weight depends on what your total calorie intake for the day is. You have to burn at least as many calories as you consume, to maintain your weight.
If your diet is low in meats then the craving may be for the protein, but it's more likely for the taste. Peanut butter is yummy! ☺

Eat a serving- 2 tablespoons.
Everybody needs to eat enough protein for their body weight each day. Most people don't, and few people on a "diet" eat anywhere near enough. Protein is used by the body to make muscle, bones, hair and more. Without protein, exercised muscles cannot take away fat tissue and replace it with muscle tissue.
Your typical fruit/veggie/pasta/cereal type diets aren't healthy.
How much protein do you need per day? The minimum is
Your body weight x .5 = grams per day
You can divide by 3 and that's how much per meal (3 meals a day).

Peanut butter (esp. natural without hydrogenation) is very nutritious - put some on a slice of whole wheat bread and you have a complete protein and B-complex! My guess is 2 or 3 Tablespoons a day would be suffiecient.

You might be interested in The Peanut Butter Diet (http://www.amazon.com/Peanut-Butter-Diet-Holly-McCord/dp/0312982240/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-3399772-2429544?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1177435423&sr=8-1). But that book isn't about eating a lot of PB&J sandwiches, unfortunately. It is about cooking with peanut butter. Studies have shown that people who eat nuts don't gain as much weight as people who eat the same number of calories of junk food, but we still have to watch those calories. And most kinds of peanut butter have deadly sweeteners and trans fats added to them.

You do need the protein -- definitely. Just eat a reasonable portion, not half a jar, and you'll be fine.

3 or 4 teaspoons/week is actually good for you unless you get the high sugar brands.
