This is coming from over use of the muscles. Take a break from exercise for at least three days. Apply ice packs to your ankle for ten minutes at a time several times a day.
I strongly recommend you get a massage. Massage is to the human body what a tune-up is to a car. It provides a physical and mental boost to the weary, sore, and stressed. The benefits of massage include relieving mental stress, reducing anxiety levels, enhancing capacity for calm thinking and creativity, and satisfying needs for caring and nurturing touch. A massage therapist will lightly stroke and/or knead the painful muscles. This may increase blood flow and bring warmth to a stressed area. joints are very sensitive, so the therapist should be familiar with this problem . There are many types of massage, including Western, Swedish, deep-tissue and neuromuscular. A massage therapist can teach you some do-it-yourself techniques.

Pain in ankles and leg may be caused by compression of ruptured disc on sciatica nerve OR just by always walking in the same pattern. For example, if using a running track, try starting out in the opposite direction.
Regardless of how your pain started, I advise you to see a doctor and have an MRI of your back.
Waiting can cause pain to become worse, especially if it is a disc problem.
Good Luck

There are many things it could be and some of them can be serious, like deep vein thrombosis for instance.
Obviously you would need to see your doctor for a diagnosis but unexplained pain that radiates up your leg is not something to take lightly.
