You can't, it's too late. To be valid, an extension needed to be filed by the filing deadline, which was April 17th.

It's too late to ask for an extension unless you are in the northeast areas affected by the storms last week. They have been given an updated filing deadline of April 26th. If you live in the affected area, file Form 4868 by midnight on the 26th. Write "April 16 Storms" on the top of the form to ensure that it is properly processed.

You are too late to file an extension. Just get your return filed ASAP.

I don't think they'll accept it this late - it was due a week ago, unless you were out of the country. But you can try.....
