As Americans, we can learn more about the Muslims and their history and respect their beliefs a bit more and not assume they are all out to kill of Americans.

As a belief system...it is vital that THEY decry those people who would continue using their beliefs as a cover for terrorist acts. Who is someone going to believe more...an American infidel...or a member of their own faith.

How? Erase poverty and this will help reduce the number of men being recruited for terrorism.

Many people don't realize that by killing innocent people this will only further make young men (who previously had nothing to do with terrorism) make them feel justified. They are avenging thier mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers.

We are fighting a movement of ideas. Stop terrorism by educating people in those areas on what the Islam is all about, which is not killing innocent people, 72 virgins for sucide bombers and this list goes on.

I assume that you're stereotyping about Islam. I will remind you that those extremists in the religion account for maybe 1% of the entire religious community if that. The only reason that it seems so prevalent is that it suites the government to make the people/world fear the opponent, thus making it easier to kill people. Within the extremists religions it is believed that if an individual sacrifices themselves in the name Allah and to stop the infidels(not simply Americans, but all non believers) that they will be granted a place in heaven. You should know your facts before you generalize about things.

It's not the only element of the ideology. If they do not feel threatened by Americans, they will attend to other parts of their lives. We defeated Communism simply by living well. We didn't need anything from China and the USSR, however. In the middle-east, we need their oil. And when our economic well-being is at stake, we intervene where we are not welcome.

Start educating Americans that these folks do not want Westerners to be their "brothers and sisters", they want us dead. period. People in this Country who are converting to that religion should be thrown out along with all of them. They are playing russian roulette with the rest of us and our children. We are in a damn war.
And yes, there are some very nice muslims, but hey, those killers are snugly hiding right in the middle of all those "loving and caring" ones. It will not be easy.
The ideas of current extremists are a problem within Islam; and must be debated among Muslims. Nobody else can settle the issue. Gradually, I hope more and more Muslims will reject terrorism to the extent that they will fight against it.
In the meantime, we have to protect ourselves from harm. This will be a long and complicated struggle with ever-changing tactics and strategies.
