I don't really know why any doctor or psychologist would want to throw that many disorders at a person all at once. Definitely get a second opinion. Even a third opinion, if you want. Of course psychologists can be wrong... there are some bad apples out there, which is a shame. But that many diagnoses definately made me raise an eyebrow!

Zoloft can help with anxiety disorders, depression, and attention disorders. If you did not explain everything to your doctor then they can't know. Most people don't have all the anxiety and panic disorders. You may have a touch of many of them. But to give you all that as a diagnosis is rather odd. Try the medication and you should have a follow up within 4 weeks if they are new. ANY problem with the medication you should call the doctor. At the 4 week appointment tell the doctor how it is going and add to it the other problems that you have. Seeing a psychiatrist takes time. Don't expect 100% progress in just one or two months. They need to get to know you and see how things are working. Be honest and you should keep a journal of your emotional state and how the medications are working.
You should also look up the diagnosis and read up on it. Your local library should be able to help you there.
If you have ADD or ADHD stay away from Red dyes in your food, something there just is not good. And don't eat a lot of sugar, either in pop or in your foods. You could try some caffine. I have known many people with ADHD that use caffine instead of medication, if they have minor problems. Some parents will give their kids a cup of coffee in the morning to help them. All within moderation.
I am ADHD and I need some caffine. 1 soda a day in the morning and it helps. Everyone is different.

Of course they can be wrong they are only human and everyone makes mistakes. If you really think you need different advice then you need to go talk to him again or see a different doctor.
Why were you silly enough to just walk out of the room with the medicine and not ask him what the hell he was talking about or that you had doubts. You need to schedule the appointment on a day you know your pmdd is in full swing so that you won't be so intimidated and you can use some of that rage to tell him what you think :)
All of those disorders you were labeled with have depression as a symptom so apparently you were showing some signs of depression that day? Also why did you go in the first place? What other symptoms were you having? Most adults don't go to the dr just because they are having problems concentrating.

The psychologist can only make the diagnosis from what you let him/her know about you, plus observations of your behavior. Still, I think that all of those disorders seem to go together for many people. Post traumatic stress is really a huge thing to deal with, and can bring the panic, the OCD, and social anxiety with it. I think that since the psychologist DID bring up all those disorders, that I would tend to believe that is really your problem.
Remember, NOT to go off of your prescription the moment you feel better. So many people do this, not understanding that the REASON they feel so much better, is due to the medication they are supposed to be taking. Stay on the meds until your psychologist tells you that they are not needed by you.

yes a psychologist can mis diagnose a person. that is a lot of diagnosis for one person. you should see a psychiatrist, also. a psychologist cannot order medication in Canada, you have to be a psychiatrist. i question the use of this medication to treat these problems also. i think it would be wise to see a psychiatrist, you may re diagnose you, and order appropriate medication, and counsel ling for you. hope this helps good luck . something does not sound right.

YIKES........... well I think misdiagnoses is always a possibility. I don't know if a psychologist can just throw all those disorders at you, claiming you have all of them. I think it maybe Wise to get a second opinion. Something doesn't sound right to me, and it seems the psychologist is not listening to your issues and your needs at all.

GOOD LUCK and get a second opinion!

From what you describe, it sounds like simple ADD or ADHD. I'm not a mental health professional, but I can say from experience that you CAN definitely be misdiagnosed. I think you should seek a second opinion. Or just be open with your current psychologist/psychiatrist and tell them what you think and why (be specific with symptoms). Good luck!

Please get another opinion. Sounds like this one has fun trying to label someone with as many different problems as possible.
I am sure you don't have all of these!
