We have just started antibiotics this morning right after my nine year old daughter was diagnosed with Scarlet Fever. They just never told me how long to wait until she can go back to school. Today is Tuesday and just started with her medication but she has a speech to do that she is looking forward to doing on Thursday, will she be able to go to school tommorrow or even Thursday?

Please, talk to your daughter's doctor, before you send her to school. Scarlet fever can put scarring around the heart, so, you really want to be really certain it is not too soon to send her back to school, already. If you give her vitamin E capsules, daily, she will be able to have her body fight off any scarring around the heart, that Scarlet fever causes, as well.

Scarlet Fever is actually just a rash that sometimes accompanies strep throat. It is contagious so that is why the preschool sent home the note. Like strep throat, Scarlet Fever is generally treated with an antibiotic as there are some rare, but possible complications if left untreated. It really wouldn't matter much to find out which room the sick child attends if they all spend common time together. Additionally, privacy laws will probably prevent the personnel at your daughter's preschool from divulging that information. There is no need to be overly worried as the symptoms are pretty obvious and you should be able to have your daughter treated right away if she does catch it.

Tradition has it that it's OK for kids with a strep throat to return to school after a full day's penicillin, so if she's not running a fever and she's feeling OK, Thursday should be fine.

hi,I am guessing now,I may be right and I may be wrong, but I think it will be safe for your daghter to return to school in about 14 days, you want to make sure she doesnt have any rash left nor a fever so to be on the safe side this is what I think is the normal time to wait after taking antibiotics. and resting. rubberstampr
