Do you mean red in the actual eyeball as in bloodshot? Or red in the skin around the edges?

If she'd got a claw in her eyeball she's probably be in a worse way. Cooled boiled water is the best thing to bathe eyes in if you don't exactly what the problem is, so well done.

If it's just red around the edge, with literally no other symptoms (no swelling or discharge, eye is not closed up at all and is bright and clear, no pain or cloudy areas on the surface of the eye) I would just mention it to the vet on your next visit. If it develops any of the above symptoms you should certainly go to a vet.

If you are worried, going to a vet is the only way to be sure, no one on here can assure you it's nothing, we haven't seen it

Get to the vet. As this kitten is a foundling you can bet there is a lot more going on than just the eye problem. I rescued a kitten about 3 weeks old that was thrown from a moving truck. The person driving just slowed down, while the other person threw out a box of kittens. Of the three kittens that flew out of the box when if landed two scampered off the third one didn't. I got that kitten brought him home. He also had "gooey" eyes. I put cool tea bags on them overnight to help draw out the infection. The next day we were at the vets. The kitten had a temp of 105F and was covered in fleas. The kitten was so sick that the vet wasn't sure he would make it. If you can't afford a vet bill then turn him over to a cat rescue that can get him the medical attention he needs.

How about a wipe with a little cooled boiled water an a pinch of salt, and just keep a eye on it(excuse the pun!!)

Please don't use any home remedies without consulting a vet first. I can't understand why so people try to medicate on their own. There could be many reasons for its red eye and soreness, best to check with a vet, after all cats as anyone else have only one pair of eyes, why fool with them?
