This is a question for women, single or married, do you approve best of a guy who knows how to cook tasty dinners for himself and who has grown up preparing meals for his family from a teenager to current day? As opposed to the guy who eats most meals in restaurants and who does little more than heating frozen dinners in a microwave oven and percolating a pot of coffee or boiling water for a pot of green tea I think I know the common answers here, but I am a guy who won't cook, and I am meeting a special Lady on April 25 at about 6:00 pm Toronto Time .. we chatted online and sent each other emails but we have never met yet

Guys that can cook is a HUGE turn-on! Even if he can only cook half as good as me. The fact that he can make anything descent tasting and edible is way awesome!

Eh, it depends. If he's a really, REALLY good cook and has been doing so for a long time, yet he's cocky, self-absorbed and selfish, then no--I don't approve of him. If he's a mediocre cook who sometimes flubs things up, yet he tries really hard and shows that he's making an effort and is a genuinely nice guy, then yes--I approve of him!

I would never hold it against a man who didn't/couldn't cook. Knowing all my single guy friends, most of them don't know how to cook (were never taught), cooking for one is a pain in the butt, and eating out is much easier.

I wouldn't say I like a guy better because he can cook but-
Sometimes it's nice to be in the kitchen cooking together .
I like a guy who likes to eat at home too, whether he cooks or I cook, It's more romantic. It's nice to sit and have coffee or tea after a meal, and just talk, when if you went out you would have to get up and leave the restraunt, not relaxing. not as personal.

To be honest, if I met a guy who refused to cook, or learn and expects his meals to be served while he sits on his butt watching TV... he's off my list.. big time!! I would love a man who can cook, who would share that responsibility and surprise me once in a while preparing the whole meal. If he's willing to learn and tries.... that would help, but I'd still rather he had the skill already. One other requirement if he's a cook, and that is that he appreciates my cooking without being critical. Ideas and suggestions... yes!

This is from James J's wife, Anna J :)
I gotta say that the fact my hubby cooks makes my life MUCH easier! He makes me special dinners just as I do for him, and when he cooks I can spend more time with my kiddos! It's a way to show he cares, and thinks about me!
You want to learn cooking? Go to FoodNetwork.com and search for videos/recipes starring Alton Brown. He's a bit technical (more into the science of cooking) but I've learned a LOT from his show! Good luck!

A guy's cooking skill isn't something I judge when deciding if I wanna date a guy. It might come in handy down the road, but I really don't care either way.

Being able to cook is a nice trait, but only if it is one of many nice traits. Choosing a man based only on whether or not he can cook, is a lesson in disaster. Good luck on your date.

not necessarily. cooking is a plus but i wont hold it against a guy if he cant even boil an egg as long as he has other things to offer, i.e. good personality, sense of humor, decent looks, etc.

I really want to answer this question based on your criteria, but whether he cooks or not is way, way, way down on the list. But if I must answer, he doesn't need to cook, I don't wish to share my kitchen.......its my domaine

adult adult males and ladies folk could only be whoever the hell they % to be. It annoys me whilst people think of a guy has to act a undeniable way and a girl has to act yet in a distinctive way. no person must be something.
