Hi there,
I do trust my doctor. One of the most important tools that you have in fighting any disease and maintaining your health is your relationship with your doctor. It's worth spending time looking for the right doctor, and being ruthless about changing doctors who don't work for you. Talk to your doctor – see if you feel comfortable with him or her. If you don't feel comfortable discussing your most personal stuff with the doctor (your sex life, your bowel habits, the weird growth in your groin, or your recurrent yeast infections) then maybe you should change doctors. Remember – your doctor works for you. My doctor does listen to me; he knows I will look up herbal/nautropathic remedies for whatever might be going on with me. My doctor will listen to me and never judge what I say or do. If I do make a decision that he feels is not in his professional opinion sound he will let me know. Yes, he is the specialist but I know my body better than anyone else and I trust what my body tells me. I may not understand it half the time but that's a different story!
Cheers.

I trust my doctor, but sometimes I trust other doctors more.
If I were critically ill, I know my physician would ask me to seek a second opinion.
He has been my doctor since I was 12 yrs old and I am 42 now. Both of my elderly parents are deceased and he took care of both of them. I was thankful he was there for us.

If you're not satisfied with your medical doctor, try looking into alternative medicine. A lot of them believe in herbal supplements to help instead of loading you up with drugs. I work for a woman that is a Chiropractor and she doesn't believe in a lot of modern medical doctors. She also thinks they just want to give you drugs to meet their quota. Check into alternatives, and if you want to stick to a medical doctor, anytime they give you a prescription go home and look it up online....see how people have rated it, and you can always go to a different doctor for a second opinion and see if their stories match.

It is very difficult to find a good general practitioner these days. Many just want to prescribe pills - and without just cause it seems. We have to shop around to find a good Doctor. Go by "word of mouth" and trust your instincts. Good luck.

As in any profession, there are those who are excellent, and sadly, those who are at best worthless and at worst harmful. Find a physician you TRUST. If you are concerned about a diagnosis or recommended course of treatment, get a 2nd or 3rd (or more) opinoins until you are satisfied that the dx or the tx reccomendations are on target.
Best of luck to you,
~M~

You are correct they have no idea what the heck they are doing most of the time. Basically the drug reps tell them what candy to hand out this month.
Specialists are a different story MOST of the time but PCP are pretty clueless.
