Hi Amy,

It can take anything up till 2 years for your Yorkie to attain its adult colour. Don't be alarmed, though, if it isn't the colour you expected! The breed standard states the colour as 'blue and tan', but tones really do vary from dog to dog. My first Yorkie ever was a stunning steel blue and tan. The next two were quite different - one being much darker on the top coat than the other ... and he took an amazing 6 years to change completely! My present two are different again; one is a very silvery colour with light tan head and fall. The other is a rather 'black' shade of blue with an extremely rich tan!

Breeding has a great deal to do with the adult colours. I remember, years ago, the famous 'Streamglen' bloodline had the most amazing blue and tan markings.

Just bide your time and wait for a lovely surprise - whatever! No Yorkie will ever be the same as yours. What unique little dogs they are!!!

at about two years it should be tan and blue, it all really depneds on the puppy really...

After 8 months .ie: Gradually as they start to mature.
