Yeah, when some drunk tone deaf people sang that at Saturday night kareoke... but I had more sympathy for those of us in the bar listening to them!

NEVER!!!...why would anyone ever want to have sympathy for the 'Father of lies', and the king of murders?!
God didn't make Satan 'fall', Satan chose to fall by embracing prideful arrogance towards God. Satan aspired to usurp God's rightful place of majesty & glory...the 'creature' aspired to the 'Creator' even though the former was evil & unworthy. (see Book of Isaiah Chp. 14, vv 10-20 for the 'real' story).
Satan deserves no sypathy whatsoever...he's the source of untold mayhem over the course of world history.

I do kinda. He was told to bow down to man, a much less evolved and pretty ignorant creature, so its not that unrealistic to assume he'd be a bit ticked, and would grow to hate us.
I don't know why I love that song, but I always have.

I have occassionally wondered what his side of the story might be.

Yep.
Considering God created him knowing he would turn away and be cast into hell, he was created for eternal torture, which is a bit cruel.
