I didn't have any depression while I was on Depo. However, it took 4 years and many months of hormone therapy to get a period after stopping Depo.

I had the Depo shot. I only had two injections (BIG mistake). I wish I had never gotten them. I feel like that drug should be pulled becasue most people aren't aware of the damage it causes. I was under the impression that it would take a little while for my cycle to get back on track, I never imagined it would be 2 1/2 years. I didn't get a period for a year and a half after Depo and then when I did it was all messed up and I couldn't conceive for another year.
I hope that it works out better for you. I am sure there are some good stories but after I started to have trouble I researched it online and read hundreds of stories similar to mine.

I was on the depo provera injection forr 2 years. I suffered from major weight gain, depression, low sex drive and major migraines. When I came off the injection i have suffered with many reproductive conditions. It took 18 months till i actully had a period then they have been irregular ever since. I have been trying to conceive now for 4 years and in that time have miscarried 3 times. My periods are still irregular and feel i am not ovulating properly tests show I'm not. I would advise against anybody having this injection. There is no reverse to this injection all you can do is wait for it to leave your system. You have only been on this injection for a short while so i think once it runs out within a couple of months your cycle should be back to normal. Wish you lots of luck

Do not I repeat do not get the depo shot, if you are on it stop immediately, it will cause serious health issues not to mention massive weight gain, let it run its course and wait about 6 months before you think about having another child make sure the chemical is completely out of your system. There is a national law suit going on right now for that particular shot and its side effects. I hope all is well for you and yours.

I was on depo for almost two years, my period stopped completely but luckily I didn't suffer from depression though, but now I completely regret going on it in the first place.

I spent 6 months on hormone therapy to restart my cycle, and to date we have been trying for 1 1/2 year to conceive.

I have one son from a previous relationship and my partner has two girls from his previous relationship, so there is no obvious problems, all the preliminary test have come back without any problems.

We have another 6 months to wait before we can be refered to a fertility clinic, but have been advised by the doctor that unless we go private we are unlikely to be offered any help with conceiving except to find out what the problem is, due to the fact that we both have had children, I would definately not recommend going on it in the first place.

OH GOD!! I had the depo shot and was so depressed and put on weight and had my period for 4 months straight!! Good news it goes away!! Some people (depending on how many shots you have had) it can take 6 months to a year to restart your menstrual cycle. I have a friend who it had 2 yrs worth of shots she got pregnant about year after going off!! Just depends on the person really.

It lasts 3 months. I was not down but had zero sex drive. It came back about 4 months after my last shot. I took the shot for a full year. I did not have any problems getting back to a normal cycle and have not tried to have another child. Everyone's body is different, so just wait the 3 months and then try. Good luck

Hi, my depo ran out 6 weeks ago and I'm currently ttc. I've been told that I don't need to get my period in order to get pregnant and it could take anything up to 18 months to get pregnant. However loads of women have gotten pregnant after a few months. The 1st week or two after my shot ran out i felt really ill. And a little down but I'm ok now. I still haven't had a period. Just be prepared to have a wait ahead of you and then you won't get your hopes up. If it happens for you straight away the bonus! Good luck to you. xx

My sister in law has been on them for 8 years can u imagine? She's since come of it its been 6 months her periods are only just returning to normal as is her mood swings lol.

It sometimes takes a few months after you stop taking the shot to start ovulating again. Don't worry though. If your shot runs out in June and you've only had one shot, it shouldn't take you too long to start ovulating again. I'd give it 6 months (after June) and if still not pregnant talk to your doctor.
