Building an Automated Lawnmower?

I'm an electronics guy and have designed everything I need to have a computer mow my lawn.... the problem is I don't know much about mechanical engineering/how to make the mower propel itself. Any ME guys have suggestions? Thanks!

Don't re-invent the wheel.
Go buy a self-propelled mower and use the drive train from it.
You'll have to modify it to steer however.
