I was just curious, could someone give me the passage from the bible where it says homsexuality is wrong?

In my personal opinion, homsexuality is a sexual orientation that one is born with, one that cannot be changed, or shouldn't be attempted to change. Now, this is not a bias-question, though. I am not here to judge who is right or wrong, but to ask a question I have been wanting the answer to, so please, no bashing answers. I am not familiar with the bible, but I have heard people says this, so I would like to know the passage, verse if possible.

It is deeply appreciated! Thanks in advance! =]

The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When a person continues in sin and disbelief, the Bible tells us that God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God.

God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that a person becomes a homosexual because of sin (Romans 1:24-27), and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger / rage, does that make it right for then to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true for homosexuality.

It's amazing how pragmatic and un-bashing the Bible handles this. "Men with men working that thing that is not conveniant." "Leaving the natural use of the woman" I suppose that means it's awkward. You'll find it in Romans 1:27
The inhabitants of Sodom Gen. 13:13 ; Genesis19:4-7 (in the Old Testament) were aggressively Homosexual, as many are today, and they were those who gave homosexuality among men it's Bible name of Sodomy, or Sodomites. Hope that helps!

Yes, of course. Jesus himself was gay. That's why it is ludicrous that the book the Da Vinci Code would posit that he was married and had a child.

There are many obvious signals in the Bible that the 12 Apostles were also gay or became gay in order to follow Jesus, and that Christianity was originally a cult of homosexuality.

That is the origin (though no longer the reason) for celibacy in the Priesthood. In order to become nearest to Christ, one must become as christlike as possible, this includes being homosexual, but it has been modified to merely celibate.

IN fact, however, nearly all Catholic priests are homosexual. This is not a coincidence. Heterosexuals have been admitted to the priesthood but must vow not to defile themselves by being with a woman, who in Christianity is the very symbol of evil--to wit, Eve--and the only pure woman--Mary--was actually a child and a virgin. Typically, women in Christian stories are harlots, prostitutes, and whores, like Mary Magdalen.

There are many verses that people interpret to show that homosexuality is wrong. Leviticus contains many "laws" against certain sexual acts, though these laws were "satisfied" or "fulfilled" by Jesus dying on the cross. The story of Sodom and Gomorrah is said to show God's disapproval of homosexuality, though I'd imagine it was the gang rape that God had a problem with. The strongest Biblical verse against homosexuality is in Paul's letter to the Romans "In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."

As for 1 Corinthians 6:9 listed by someone above, the word homosexual may not be an appropriate translation. Most of the verses quoted against homosexuality can be explained away, but Romans is tough to misinterpret.

The most quoted passage is Leviticus 20:13: "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

Of course, this passage is cherry-picked from among literally hundreds of other statutes which are daily disregarded by the same "Christians" who use 20:13 to excuse their own petty bigotry. It's singularly amusing to listen to people who routinely eat shellfish, associate with menstruating women, wear two different kinds of fabric together, etc etc, inform us all that God Hates Fags on the strength of this text - or others of which I could make exactly the same remark.

Of course, the rule was originally instituted for a tribe of nomadic savages wandering in the desert. From a purely pragmatic POV, non-procreative sex of any sort was a "social crime." Nowadays we have 6.5 billion people in the world. Moral: times change. In exactly the same way, the proscription on pork was due to the fact that pork was infected with the trich. The savages didn't understand the mechanisms of disease, but they were afraid of the wrath of their tribal war god. So the ban on pork was elevated into a universal rule and given divine sanction, with the effect that we still have people today who avoid pork for "religious" reasons.

Of course, we live in a secular society in the 21st century, so as far as our secular laws go, it (theoretically) makes no difference what the Bible has to say about anything. Homsexuals aren't the only ones who should (theoretically) be glad of this fact!

Hi Samantha,

You should not be satisfied with any response you receive here on yahoo answers. These questions can be answered from looking inside ones self and getting in touch with your own inner-being. I would guess that you are asking this question because you want to PROVE something to somebody (possibly yourself). Unfortunately, the bible cannot prove anything. The bible has been written/translated/re-written-translated, etc., so many times with different agendas, it has lost a great deal of its truth. Many people like to turn to the bible and pick and choose what they want to believe as TRUTH......and that simply doesn't work. The truth is within.

Sin is “any want of conformity unto or transgression of the law of God” (1Jo_3:4; Rom_4:15), in the inward state and habit of the soul, as well as in the outward conduct of the life, whether by omission or commission (Rom_6:12-17; Rom_7:5-24). Sin is not a mere violation of the law of our constitution, nor of the system of things, but an offense against a personal lawgiver and moral governor who vindicates his law with penalties.

Since God, speaking through the inspired prophets authoring the books of the bible, declared homosexuality a sin, then it is a sin.
See: Leviticus 18:22; Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9,10; 1 Timothy 1:10.

Thus, homosexuality is just one of a litany of the decay of the perfect moral state found in original creation.

As all sinners, homosexuals can be true Christians. As far as God views sin, homosexuality is no greater or lesser than other sins. All sin is objectionable to God. Since homosexuality is often practiced openly ("in your face"), the reaction by some who have wandered off the “love thy neighbor” reservation is over the top. It may also be the case that anyone that seems to revel in their sin seems defiant or disingenuous, if they are a self-professed Christian. I believe that the true Christian homosexual struggles daily with their sinful nature.

Happiness to Christians is more than the needs of the flesh. Homosexuals must continue to pray for strength to resist their urges and strive to be obedient to the scriptures.

I don't know a bible verse, and I agree with your point of view. But I might take a helmet out it I were you, because I asked a question about homosexuality and the bible and everyone jumped on it. I still have cyberbruises.

It is most definitely a grievous and/or horrible sin. The definition of sin is a deliberate act that is wrong ( you know that it is wrong). You will not find this word in the King James Version of the Bible. But you will find it in other translations. One such translation is the Jewish New Testament.

No I am not a literal Jew; only a spiritual one.

Here it the verse from the Jewish New Testament. 1st Corinthians 6:9 and 10. This word effeminate in the King James Version of the bible means homosexuality. I quote it here(follow along in a Bible):

Don't you know that the unrighteous people will have not share in the Kingdom of God? Don't delude yourselves - People who engage in sex before marriage, who worship idols, engage in sex after marriage with someone other than their spouse, who engage in active or passive homosexuality, who steal, who are greed, who get drunk, who assail people with contemptuous language, who rob - non of them will share in the kingdom of God. In Romans 1:27 this word that we know as homosexual has a description of the word.

Now one is born a homosexual. There is no honest way to prove that there are men and women who are born homosexual.

See Leviticus 20:13 in the Old Testament:

If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.

1 Cor. 6:9 is the "biggie" in the New Testament:

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
