Because they represent that portion of the population whose knees immediately start jerking at the mere mention of the word nuclear. They refuse to acknowledge the technical leaps taken since the Chernobyl and Three Mile Island reactors were built, instead choosing to leave their collective heads stuck in the sand and ignore a technology that could immediately alleviate much of the country's reliance on oil and coal.

Because as with all "advocacy groups" it got them the attention they craved in the 60s and 70s when the nuclear industry was still thriving. They've been laying low more recently because they are also big advocates of using SUVs to drive to their clean air retreats in the desert and mountains.

The environmentalist are always against any thing . They were against hydroelectric power as the were sure it would kill this little fish.
