Simple we are carnivores...Why do we have eyeteeth /canine teeth because ...WE are SUPPOSED to eat meat .
Humans also have eyes like a predator facing forward. The same as a cat , dog, or bear...

I love furry lilttle creatures also!
While cooked over a open fire or on my grill!
By the way I did calculate the last deer I took with all cost to do so added in and I still only spent about $1.28 per pound! Good food low cost!

I dont know what crack you are on, but it says in the bible that when Adam and Eve where banished from the Garden of Eden, that Man was to toil and till the earth and eat the plants of the field, and bread. Also God made garments of animal skins.
So from a theological view, that is why.
From my view, because I love venisen, I love turkey. Hunting with a .22 will keep woodpeckers from destroying my cabin, mice and rats out of my kitchen, and squirrels from burrowing in my attic and dropping their nuts down between my wall boards and keeping me awake at night doing it. Hunting keeps armadillo(s)& badgers out of my girl's garden and my neighbors chuwa-wa out of her flower bed. Hunting firearms also keep criminals out of my house and off my land, since I live in the middle of no-where and the nearest law enforcement official is 18-20mi away(give or take 2mi).
All in all, Hunting allows Man to keep a balance in animal population. So stop being a hippi, put down your tofu, and go eat a thickburger from Hardees.

To reassert our places as apex predators rather than apex scavengers. Look at all the people relying on other people to kill meat that has been bred to be killed, and is too stupid and/or unable to get away.
I would much rather eat something that had a chance.
I'm what I refer to as a Rooseveldt-style conservationist. I want there to be enough of everything for me to be able to eat it if I want to.

because like you said, they are delicious. Man is a hunter, a predator, whatever you want to call us. We were designed to hunt for our food. And it is a very enjoyable pastime
