can you give me any good reasons why you wouldn't vote for a presidential candidate who is openly an atheist?

heather, that's a reason why one should be treated fairly. if one is so honest to be open about something most people don't understand and are afraid of, what won't he/she be honest about?

hate boy, that is the biggest load of b.s. i've heard about atheist. true, we're not accountable to some imaginary being. that doesn't mean we're not accountable to the laws of man. we know that our actions have penalties which we can't escape except through death. and that believing in some higher being isn't going to make all the wrong that we do any better.

I don't make the religious aspect of a person the deciding factor in who gets my vote. I know I'm not going to agree on everything a president says or does but as long as he is passionate and the type of being who has proved to mean what he says and says what he means......
he pretty much has it.
but i cant give you one good reason as to why an openly atheist president shouldn't be treated fairly. I have a sneaky suspicion that there are many political families who are non believers but do the whole church thing to gain favor...no respect there.
Christians seem to think that if you aren't christian then you aren't moral and that's just not the case.

If candidates from both parties were equally qualified, and one was a Christian, I would vote for the Christian. The President needs all the help possible, so that would tip the scales for me.
That said, if both candidates were equally qualified, one a non-believer and the other a member of a non-Christian sect (Mormons, JWs, Scientology, Islam, etc.), I would vote for the non-believer.

There wouldn't be any religious reason why I wouldn't vote for him. It would be more along the likes of weather or not I thought he was suited to the position. I wouldn't matter if he was an Atheist, christian, Muslim or Hindu.

No, my decision to vote for a candidate is based solely on his political record and agenda/platform. This was true when I was a Christian and is still true now that I'm an Atheist.

I love how people think that an atheist would lie while all the Christan and Catholic people in the government lie through their teeth every day.

How can you trust anyone who doesn't believe he's accountable for his actions? One bullet to the brain and he escapes all responsibility for anything. Why should he even care about a future that he's going to fail to exist in?
Completely untrustworthy.
