I thought I was supposed to be the superior creature in the relationship between cat and human - how wrong was I?!!!

Cracker (my cat) is totally in charge all the time! I really noticed it last night when he was snuggled up to me in bed. I really wanted to move as I was uncomfortable, but I didn't in case I disturbed him!!!!

But he thinks nothing of walking all over me and nibbling my ears when I'm sleeping!!

Anyone else owned by their cat?!

Five years ago a stray cat started to creep quietly into my house and hide behind a bed upstairs and sleep.

Gradually he started to come more frequently. I started to feed him, he moved himself from behind the bed to the bed.

Then he moved into the larger bedroom where I sleep.
He demanded so much of the bed I moved into the small bedroom!

He had his regular bedtime and the big bed in the big bedroom.

Two weekends ago he didn't eat for four days and I took him to the vet. Without going into the ins and outs, euthanasia was the only kind option.

I really miss the wee fella, and who says big men don't cry?

I am owned by mine - they are fed before us and eat better then we do . I worry more about them then my children or family, even my mother (who does not live with us) cooks up chicken a for for them which I have to go and pick u on my way from work (a 5 mile detour) - who is the Superior race I often as myself. And a £250,00 vest bill last month because one wasn't feeling too well. When I die I wan to come back as a cat so I can make someone run after me all day, sleep in the sun or on my owners best jacket and claw the stair carpet until it looks like I've had a party for 50 people.(being replaced agin this month the 4th time in 6 yrars) I Live with these two treasurers and would give anything to make them happy - Am I sad or what!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank goodness I am not alone. There is not point engaging in a battle of wills with a cat - they win every time. My cat, Lilley, wakes me at 6 am each morning during the winter which is fine, just like a furry alarm clock. Unfortunately during the summer my waking up time gets progressively early as the mornings get lighter but I have now perfected the technique of getting up, feeding her and then going back to bed without actually fully waking up.

I suppose you could say that. Jess my middle cat, takes up the whole bed and her snoring sounds like an aeroplane taking off! I'm contstantly on the edge of the bed, with her spreading out with all the freedome she needs. Plus the fact that shes always trying to get food, she jumps up at my legs when I open the fridge and sometimes steals my food!
I love her cheekiness though and shes a good cat, I would never swap her. Shes sweet and cuddly and my little baby!

I'm owned by 12 of the superior little beasts! Fortunately though, I have ALWAYS known where I stand in the pecking order ( right at the bottom). The one, Idapuss, also knows that SHE is the real boss in the house, and rules everyone, including the dogs, with an iron fist. She sleeps where she wants in the bed, and will complain bitterly if I move an inch when she is snuggling next to me. When she wants me to wake up, which is normally in the middle of the night or very early hours of the morning, she tickles my nose with her whiskers. Regardless of how much servitude they demand of us though, what can we do other than love them?

My cat owns me. I have no privacy at all since she follows me around all the time. If she wants to go to her bed which I share with her, she comes and gets me and mows really hard until I come. Sometimes she hits my ankles with her paws to hurry me. She sits at the door of the bathroom while I'm busy. She insists on getting her food on time. She growls if I move around too much during the night. She demands sleeping under the blanket. She despises dogs and won't tolerate it if I stroke another animal in her company. I have a fridge magnet which reads "Don't treat my any differently than you would the Queen". I try, kitty, I try.

But I also get lots of licks, love bites and she purrs when I'm with her. So it's not that bad. You get harrassed unconditionally but you're also loved unconditionally.

I don't own a cat, but I have had dealings with them in the past.

I have found that cats have no scruples whatsoever.

They may rule your house but some cats disappear for days on end.

I had a cat come into my garden, so I gave it some milk & it started coming back more regularly & took control of my house.

I subsequently found that it had its own house down the road.

The best way to find out if the cat really owns you it is best to check the Electoral role & if he pays the mortgage at the property that you reside in..

I see you have already gotten LOTS of answers. It seems that it always turns out that I am the one that is owned. I have had many cats over the years. 6 at one time. They all have me very well trained. I know just what they want, when they want it because they let me know.
And I wouldn't dare get up if one of my cats was on my lap, unless it was for an emergency run to the bathroom. : )

YES, YES, YES. Breakfast must be served by 4.45 am AFTER letting her out at 4.30 am and waiting for her to come back in. Food must be freshly served. If I pretend I am not awake to do her biddings, I am trampled on all over, if that does not work I am licked on my hands & legs (boy, has she got a rough tongue) If that does not work she dive bombs me from the top of the wardrobe till I get up, then she has the cheek to try & trip me up on the way to the kitchen. Yes, SHE is in charge. Love her so much tho.

Ascoile, hope you feel better soon , I,ve been there so many times, but have some wonderful memories. XXX

Yep - definitely owned by a cat. Don't you know that cats are actually the dominant species on the planet and humans only exist to serve their needs?

What other species has gotten another to feed them, house them, provide medical care and affection on demand while being totally free to come and go as they please?

At the end of the day cats rule!

Yup I have four cats and i am totally owned by them especially my cat called Katie she just tells me what to do the whole time and i am the exact same, when she is comfortable that usually means that i am sitting / lying very uncomfortably. She is the fussiest eater and will only eat fresh food everytime that she goes to her bowl even if she has just left it about 5 minutes earlier. Love them all lots though and would not have it any other way.
