Are grapes okay to eat on a diet. I have got told many different things. I know they give you the poo's but hey? In my slimming world book they are classed as free foods so you can eat as much as you want when you want but people have different views? Thanks x

Grapes are a free food in slimming world, but because of the high sugar content they are not a classed as a speed food which aids in the weight loss. People will have different views on them as they don't agree some peoples bodies and the sugars do not break down very well. People say the same about yoghurt's and bananas which are free, some people can eat as many as they want but others retain their weight if they have just one. You need to see how they go for you personally but your better off snacking on them than something that contains syns.

If you want to boost your weight loss you could try Apples, blackberries, cherries, raspberries or melon to name just a few.

Good luck with your weight loss x

I know that any fruit is ok to eat on a diet. Grapes are great. In my book it warns you though of eating fruit after meals. It says to wait 3 hours before eating fruit after a meal. It says that the fruit ferments the food in your stomach and it takes it alot longer to break down. Grapes are great. You're right they make you poop, which is like flushing out your colon. Nothing wrong with that. You want to eat food that's highly nutritious for your body, but will exit it quickly. Waste=Weight. I've been eating fruit in the morning, vegetables during the afternoon and also include 2 juices which I make at home with whatever I have on hand. (spinach, kale, carrots, apples, beets, bananas, whatever) Then I eat a healthy cooked meal at night. Anyway, that's a little more than you were asking about, but I just thought I'd include that. So, yes, grapes are fine.

Well, grapes aren't necessarily free. 1 cup is a serving of fruit, which, in weight watchers, is counted as 1 point (in my mind that means there are calories). Anyways, grapes are fine to eat. They are a fruit and healthy for you. However, like any other food, too much of 1 food isn't always good. Also, I know for myself that grapes make me bloat because of the high acidity in them. If this happens to you, it could be the grapes.

12-18 grapes, depending on size is considered a serving. They have more natural sugar than some fruits (say apples or pears) so if a person is diabetic, that could be an issue. I agree with the folks who offer the recommendation of moderation, re any given food item.

Yes, of course. Dieting shouldn't be about limiting all the foods you enjoy, but eating healthily and in moderation. Grapes may be high in natural sugar, but they have no fat and contain antioxidents called polyphenols, which help to protect against heart disease and cancer.

Grapes are rather high in calories compared to other fruits. As long as you can fit them into your daily calorie limits then you are fine. Weight loss is just about eating less calories then you burn.

all food is fattening. However grapes have lots of lovely vitamins and minerals and plenty of fibre. They are far better for you than high fat of high sugar processed food. Eat them in reasonable amounts.

yes, grapes have a lot of sugar in them. some diabetics arent even allowed to eat them. so for this i would say no, they're probably not a great idea on a diet.

They are an anti-oxident...thus good for you...grape seed extract is a known boost for anti oxidents among other benefits.

As anything else...eat them in moderation....and enjoy.

Good luck slimming
