don't want to sound self righteous, but I was brought up in a christian household since the age of 6. My single parent mum used to let me watch and do anything I wanted (within reason) unlike the other christian kids I knew. Their parents were so strict with them and my poor mum made me do as I please. Do you know, I've turned out the best , well mannered and decent person unlike the other kid's strict upbringing.

If you have to use violence to raise children then you are not doing it right. If you find you are hitting children to achieve the result you want either the result you are looking for is wrong or you need some help and advice

Congratulations.....

I was raised strict as well, in my late teens and early 20's I tested my boundaries. But the one thing that I always knew in the back of my mind was that I was doing wrong. Now I am a mom of 2 boys. I am not as strict as my mom was, but I definitely teach Godly values to them. So when they are at a vulnerable age....they, too, will know right from wrong.
