Back in days of Olde it was believed the Heart line ran to the tip of the fourth finger on the left hand, therefore following marriage the ring would be worn close to the heart.

Ancient Egypt ions believe the vein thing but what I don't understand and why the wedding band is worn on the inside and the engagement ring on the outside.
I would think that you already have the engagement ring on it comes first so then you should seal that with the wedding band going on next. I have never understood that.

Has something to do with the ancient Egyptians believing the vein from that finger runs directly to the heart, therefore, the ring is placed there so it can be the closest to the heart.

it is belived that a vein goes directly to the heart to this finger.and thus when someone wears and give u the ring he is really wearing the ring in your heart with love.

The thumb is not classified as a finger so i don't think the fourth
finger would be your ring finger, not with the index finger being
the first.

all are idots who are saying, coz vein is directly linked with heart. tell me one part of body, where blood is not supplied by heart or people think their kidneys suppy blood to their body except this finger. I do not know.....there are no reasons for anything in this world...everything is done on law to attain minimum potential enegy in entire universe.

the wedding band is traditionally worn on the 3rd finger left hand, not 4th.
because this is the finger that leads straight to your heart apparently.
