Dr H, I think it's because women are more aware of their bodies and are almost always trying the latest 'fad' diets, or maybe even avoiding food, making it a special event every time. Men more or less just wanna EAT and get on with more important things! You've probably read or at least heard of the book by John Gray "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus", right? I think for men, eating is just a basic instinct. For women, however, eating can be romantic, it can be shameful, it can be a beauty secret, it can be an indulgence, it can be frustrating, it can be so many things for women.

Muahahaha! You made me spit my coffee at the screen! I can't tell you why, but I've served so many couples who are like that. "Light on the onions, but only if they're red. Dressing on the side. Can I get anything besides a potato with this? Do you have rice? How much fat is in prime rib? I want the au jus just in the cup and not over the meat. Is the dessert homemade? No? Then nevermind."
Hah, you totally took me back to the days of my restaurant. Women are SO picky.

....and the man, I guess he's just a meat and potato man. I like those types.
