1. Do you know of a website that gives you step by step instructions on how to do this?
2. Can real gold pain come in liquid or spray form.
3. Can I paint over the gold that is already there?
4. If I use gold spray paint will that decrease the value of the furniture?

It is reproduction 19th century furniture of 20 th century have you examined the Guilding serface does it need to be filled in usually they use plaster of Paris to do this youll have to be very careful on the moulding if you do this yourself and as far as applying the gold woulnt that be gold leaf ?
I think you can get books on water Guilding and a process called Vinegar Guilding . i would guild over all the surface then you willl get aneven finish. I'm afraid any application of modern amterials poaint spray or otherwisw e will depreciate the value of the furniture . Using Gold leaf will at least help tit keep its value because you have used a traditional method . i dont know of any web site go to the library I

If it is really gold leaf, then what you are doing is painting a sizing (special type of glue) and then actually laying a very thin gold foil down over the material you are covering. Then you burnish it down. Gold leaf is not actually gold at all (these days anyway), so it's not very expensive and you can find it at the big box hobby stores like Hobby Lobby etc. Should be instructions on the package.

Make sure you've consulted a few people before attempting your repairs. Painting it could do more harm than good, because paint removal is a bear. SO actual answers:
1. No, sorry - but I'm sure there are some out there - try the DIY websites. (Do It Yourself Websites)
2. There may be a liquid gold paint with actual gold fleck in it, but I am not sure that this is what you should do.
3. Yes but, 4. YES (if it's gold leaf).

2. Can real gold pain come in liquid or spray form. NO!
Even if it does, it will not resemble gold leaf.

3. Can I paint over the gold that is already there? NO!

4. If I use gold spray paint will that decrease the value of the furniture? YES!
DON'T!

You can buy some gold leaf and practice on scrap wood, if you can afford the leaf.
I watched this being done one time. A bit tricky.
