I had Lasik last August and it was the best decision I've ever made! My vision was 20/400 (the big E was fuzzy on the eye chart) and it was only getting worse. I'd worn glasses since I was 4. My night vision was bad, I had astigmatism...my eyes were just all messed up!
Here are/were the pros for me: Minimally invasive surgery. No pain. Fast & PHENOMENAL results. Only took 2 days off of work. One for the surgery and an extra for recovery.
Cons: Besdies the fact that it is a tad on the pricey side, nothing! :-)
A word of advice: make sure you go to a reputable place. I cannot stress that enough! If you see an ad for $199 per eye, run the other way! While the surgery has come a long way, it is still not a procedure that just anyone can do. Do your research, check credentials and then proceed. You don't want to risk your eyesight to someone who is just trying to get rich.

Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges Laser surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Fly2india4health Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your Dental surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her Dental surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Fly2india4health Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps

My vision is 20/400 which is really bad. There was a time I really wanted to do the Lasik surgery. However, quite frankly, I am quite hesitant now... because of the possible side effects, and the other risks, etc.

I opted to try exercises to see if they would improve my vision. I created a blog so that people can follow my progress. You can check it out at:

Hi there,
It may sound impossible but it's really easy to improve your vision without surgery with some specific eye exercises. I'm following this method http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=413 and it's working incredibly well.
I guess it's the sotware you need.
Bye Bye

I've had friends do it. And other than having to take a day off work to get it done, I haven't heard any cons.

I wouldn't do it since I have read in the 'papers about people who were left half-blind when the operation went wrong. Too many people believe operations don't go wrong.
