First of all: No man can see God and live. He cannot live in human dwellings etc. It's the reason why it was only the shakaina light that shone on the Ark of the Covenant. It REPRESENTED his presence in the temple. There was that and the fact the reason Jesus was sent to earth was to balance the scales of Justice. The pefect human, ADAM, disobeyed God, bringing sin and death upon all his offspring. The perfect human JESUS, paid the price and balance the scales so we could have a hope of forgiveness of sins and the everlasting life that Adam lost us.

He WAS on Earth with Adam and Eve. But when Adam and Eve sinned, they forfeited theirs and God's rights to the world to Satan. People began to die, the Earth was cursed and etc. and God had to find a LEGAL alternative to being allowed back on Earth and yet avoid the sin-curse that was placed upon it and man. Since Jesus was born of a virgin birth, He became the LEGAL entrant to Earth sent from God to be "the propitiation for our sins" as the Scripture says and the ONLY QUALIFIED individual to take our places on the Cross for the redemption of that sin.

Because God is not a person. He is a Deity. He doesn't exist the way that you and I do.
