VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Vatican's second-highest ranking doctrinal official on Monday forcefully branded homosexual marriage an evil and denounced abortion and euthanasia as forms of "terrorism with a human face."
The attack by Archbishop Angelo Amato, secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, was the latest in a string of speeches made by either Pope Benedict or other Vatican officials as Italy considers giving more rights to gays

Are the energies of the Vatican a little misdirected? From what I've read about Jesus, it seems to me he was more concerned about feeding hungry people. Lord knows there are plenty of those to keep us occupied for a while.

People in Italy are very much aware that this Pope was a member of Hitlerjugend. Contrary to the propaganda coming from the Vatican, this organization was considered an elite society. One did not join this against his will; it was difficult to become a member. The Italian populace is also well aware that the Nazis attacked the homosexuals first, because they knew no one would try to stop them. Does the Vatican really think the Italian people are nostalgic for Mussolini?

The Pope or any other Christian clergy can do nothing else but declare what the scriptures have already stated about these things,no Catholic or Protestant can do otherwise, this is the judgement of God regarding murder and profane sexual practices,at least these people have the courage to call a wrong by it`s name and not have recourse to people-pleasing,I fully agree with this statement, but this is in regard to the sin and not the sinners who do this.

Pastor Billy says: The truth is still the truth even if no one believes it. Error is still error even if everyone believes it.
(Archbishop Fulton Sheen)

as for sassassya take a shower you're all wet. Why someone like this types an answer I'll never understand. She doesn't even stay on topic with her complaining. Instead she switches to bible literacy. The Christian bible is a Catholic book without Catholicism darling you wouldn't have it today try studying history now back to the question. I see absolutely nothing wrong with the Vatican position. Currently there is a hate campaign being run by the homosexual community in Italy against the Church were criminal acts are being committed. If you are going to quiz people on current news you should provide a wider picture of events.

The Catholic Church is the largest provider out of any Christian organisation which feeds the hungry no need to claim that isn't a focus. The homosexual community is not seeking equal rights they are seek extra right something I will never agree to no matter what country I live it.

The question is more misdirected than the Vatican's position. Sin and evil should not be ignored just because there is another focal point. Part of the experience of following Jesus is to uphold the laws given by His Father. Homosexual practices have always been denounced by the Bible and all Christian religions. So too with the crimes of abortion and euthanasia.
The thing that seems hard for people to remember is that the Catholic Church does teach to hate the sin, but love the sinner. Just because the sin is denounced does not mean the Church is hateful, nor that it is failing to follow the teachings of Jesus. After he spoke with the crowd that wished to stone the adulteress, Jesus did not tell her what she did was OK. Instead, he told her not to continue in her sinful ways.

Catholicism is part truth mixed with part lie and is not the Christian way of life. They change the rules all the time and confuse the people. Not a one of them opens a bible as they say that Bibles are only for Theologins and cannot be understood or fully taught to peons in the pew

It's a powerplay situation and legalistic viewpoint, not divine viewpoint. It is a farse, so they can do whatever they want.
I pray for alot of the followers (stepford folk) they know not what they do, or half the time why they do it, go ahead and ask one why this ritual or that... 1/2 the people don't even know why (because the priest says) craziness!

Seems to me the vatican holds the pope up to be christs representative on earth and they do not seem to worry about Jesus teachings too much anyway..they changed the ten commandments etc and claimed to have the authority to do so. I think more and more see the vatican for what it is..evil.

The Vatican has been responsible for more "terrorism" throughout history than just about anybody else, so they should butt out of peoples business.

I think the Vatican, and those in it , should be more concerned with how they are changing Jesus' teachings and misleading the flock than who is or is not homosexual.
