When Christians berate you for not being hung up on the guilt, misery and martyrdom of their faith/lives? Kind of like a starving man telling a restaurant owner that he has less access to sustenance. Are you a joyful atheist, do you truly love life? I do, I relish it.

Laura S, you are a rare ambassador for Christianity, good for you and respect, the non-believers on here (myself included) would find it more difficult to argue our point with Christians if they were more like you

It's only when you realise this is the only life there is that you can truly appreciate it for all the wonder it has to offer.

This is from an answer I gave yesterday ;
I find the fact that I have no belief system very liberating. I carry no weight or guilt about actions I make in this life. This is not to say I am amoral because quite the reverse is true; I am completely moral - from my very core outwards. I do not need a belief system to tell me a certain way of acting is good and a certain way is wrong because I was born with that knowledge. I am a mammal roaming this planet. I have a brain too big and complicated for day to day use and one day I will simply cease living and decay into the earth. I find this totally acceptable and actually quite a nice idea.

Dear Joyful Atheist, We're all happy that you're happy. We wouldn't have it any other way. But know this, you're happy because God allows you to be. Because He allows our sun to come up every morning, because we have air to breathe, and water to drink. He supplies your daily bread, whether you know it or not.
And He does all of this out of his love and mercy. He asks for nothing in return, if He did, none of us would be here because what can we give God ? (It says in the Bible that all of our righteousnesses are just filthy rags), so what is there to feel guilty for? For being human? We all are.
What we will be judged for is how we behave in this world, toward God, and toward all of mankind. And if you are as good person as you think you are- then that shouldn't be a big deal , right? How would being a Christian change any of that?
Or maybe it's the stigma, the perception these days that Christians are stupid , egotistical, bigots. It's not God that you are fighting against. It's just not wanting to be seen in this light- because it's not so cool is it?
Remember, if you are truly an atheist, all the Christians in the world would not be able to phase you, why do you care what Christians think? I think it is because deep down , you know they are right.

Jane, pay attention intently, your arguement isn't around this is linear. It supposes a line at "bypass" that proceeds to a million then 2 to infinity. while you're particularly drawn to an answer I advise you look into Subatomic particle physics and quantam mechanics at a school library cyber web internet site. Seach String theory and stick to it to "M" theory and consider up on the CERN supercollider for an answer as to the place those debris come from.

atheism=not believing in God
the reason for this is simply because the majority of the English speaking world are christians and they think christianity is the only true religion.so if u don't believe in God,they think u r not religious.
but no,i don't believe in God but i do have a religion-Buddhism.
so if i don't believe in God,who do i think is responsible for people's actions? they themselves of course!
i don't believe in god or creationism for that matter cos there's no proof.u may ask then how i call myself a Buddhist cos what conclusive evidence do i have to prove that Lord Buddha existed? my answer is,to be a Buddhist u dont necessarily have to believe that Buddha ever existed.all u have to do is to lead a morally correct life.it's His teachings that are important and all that is based on pure logic. it's all about being realistic.

LOL... Yup, I find it to be a good laugh, too. The faithful seem to always find ways to make themselves look foolish and I've enjoyed plenty of chits and giggles by just observing and listening to them.
(...like Melissa …(above)... who seems to believe I have no purpose in life...LOL She's a fine example of a "Know-it-all without the benefit of knowledge.")
....and, I'm with you when it comes to being a happy Atheist. I really feel more comfortable with everything now then at any other time in my life. Life's a hoot, isn't it....

Sometimes I feel sorry for all people who follow a delusion and seriously believe in an afterlife and all that. But if it makes them feel better, so what?
I enjoy my life and I try to make the best of it since I am aware that this life is the only one.

If someone berates you for something then they are obviously not Christians. Christian means "Christ-like" and Christ did not berate people. He may have discussed with them the value of belief in God but he also said to his disciples that if one does not believe or chooses not to hear then you should simply shake the dust from your shoes and walk on to where you will be heard. It is not Christian to berate or bash or point fingers at anyone else.

I have had some hate mail from this site for my beliefs but also understanding ones. zelots are alive and well and do not represent the mainstream . if god does exsist (I don`t personally think it does) then lets hope god is a female,black bhudist muslim who does drugs .
Lifes great !!
I love it !!
shame we only get one go.
however if heaven does exsist and I am wrong then it sounds like quite a nice place.

As a Christian, I would like to apologize on behalf of the kind of Christians you are referring to. Some of them MEAN well, but say it all wrong... many are self-righteous and arrogant as you claim.. and they make me cringe, since a true Christian is supposed to love others and be non-judgemental.
Some advice I might give to deal with them would be to ask if their comments are made out of love for you... or remind them that Christ told us to be 'fishers of men' not Hunters of men! :-)
We are human and we make mistakes like everyone else, but we are not all like that.
