Of course , without preservatives how would the contents stay good.Excess salt,any oil used,all are preservatives.Preservatives don't need to be harmful,you can help yourself to the tuna & leave the brine & oi; behind.

Salt is a preservative and a reason can foods tend to be so "overloaded" with it. Nitrates and nitrites are salts. Potassium nitrate is commonly called saltpeter.

Jeff,
Unless it's totally fresh food, all food contains perservatives. If they don't put perservatives in the food the food just doesn't have much if any shelf life.
