My cake seems to be lacking of something,
it isn't as smooth as what normal cake is.
It is dry ...
i want my cake to have that smooth texture so i have been trying out methods but non seems to be working.

i even tried heating the egg before mixing with the other ingredients.

Or is there something that i should add to give it a smooth texture?

First you need to start with a good recipe. Once you have one, the best way to make a cake (not sponge cake-completely different mixing steps) is to use the "ctreaming method" I am a professional chef, bvaker and pastry chef,
FYI: this works great with cookies too.
*1 beat your butter (fats) and sugars together until smooth ,
soft and creamy. use speed 1 to start then change to spd
3 and mix.
*2 add eggs one at a time mixing till its incorporated then
add the next (do not overmix)
*3 have your dry ingredients mixed together (salt, baking
powder,flours etc (reserve)
*4 mix your wet ingredients together (milk, extracts, juice,
etc)
After eggs are all blended, add 1/3 of dry ingred. and mix
till just blended, add 1/2 wet mix (blend) add 1/3 dry mix (blend) add remaining wet mix (blend) and finish with the remaining dry mix and mix till it is all blended. DO NOT OVERMIX)

This should make your cake great.

tips:
measurements are correct
pans prepped
oven pre-heated (350)
equal portions of mix into each pan
rotate cakes in oven half way thru the baking
do not overcook (test with a toothpick inserted in the
center of cakes comes out clean. nothing sticking to it

Once remover from oven, let cool 5-6 minutes and then remove from pan and put on cooling rack till completely cooled

If you just use boxed cake mix like Duncan Hines or Pillsbury, you will not need to go through all of this. The cakes always come out perfect. Moist, flavorful, smooth. Even the store brands will come out good. You can buy a box for somewhere between .99-$1.29. You can't beat that! Just tell everyone that YOU made it.

I usually try to follow the recipe as closely as possible. instead of adding anything try beating it longer. most recipes say to mix at medium speed for 3-5 minutes. I beat on high for a good 2 minutes longer. (and it might be turning out dry because your oven is to hot. turn it down 15 degrees and/or take it out a few minutes sooner.)

Are you using a "cake flour" like Swan's Down, or some other brand specifically milled for cakes?

Regular flour will result in a poorer result.
