That will be fine. Chicken should be cooked and eaten within 24 hours of it being defrosted. Be careful though, chicken takes forever to defrost in my fridge, so make sure it is well defrosted before you cook it.

Yes that should be fine as long as the chicken was fresh when you put it in the freezer. I'd say don't eat it more than 2 days later to be on the safe side. Chicken has a horrible smell if it is off, quite unmistakable so give it a sniff before you cook it if you are worried. Always make sure chicken is very thoroughly cooked. If there are any pink bits this can make you really ill. With chicken breast I usually open it out with a sharp knife so that it cooks properly in the middle.

I always leave my chicken, no matter how big or small to defrost in the fridge for 24hrs. I'd make sure it has no icie particles on your chicken as well. If it has then I'd leave it to defrost for a few more hours.

You asked:
"can I cook and eat them the next evening?"
The answer is YES...
You asked:
"How long does defrosted chicken last for?"
The USDA recommends cooking it within 24-48 hours (once it's thawed)...

If you cook them the day after, you should be fine...especially if you allow them to thaw gradually in the fridge. That's the best way.

Poultry is best eaten as soon as it's thawed, or at least within 24 hours. After that bacteria can set in.

Yoneed to cook that beast within 4 hours @ room teperature to 165 for a minimum of 15 seconds at that temp. Then enjoy. Bacteria need food, time, teperature, oxygen, moisture and low acidity to multiply. They double EVERY 20 MINUTES at room temp.
