This is a serious question first of all...
The followers of Mars, (Marte in Italian).. what were they called.
And I don't think it was Martians so lets get that out of the way first. So lets giggle a little and go.
Realy. Folowers of Christ: Christians, followers of Marte... please tell me it's not martians.

no, it's not martians, because as the previous poster points out Mars is Latin, not Greek. The Greek would form an adjective from Ares (not Aries), but I'm not aware of one referring to people.

The adjective formed from Mars in Latin would be martialis, or plural martiales. In English, then, I suppose, the people of Mars would be the Martials, but since there is no living tradition of followers of Mars in English in the religious sense, the word doesn't exist. "Followers of Mars" is used in talk about war. The adjective 'martial' is used in talk about military matters.
