The details posted on line might not give the correct position. They are often not updated. I would suggest that you ask for information by invoking the Right to Information Act first from the Passport Office. Do not forget to ask about the status of Police verification. It is their responsibility to find out from the Police authorities, if it is pending with the latter.

Now it is a complicated issue. The best way on getting renewal of your brother’s passport is, ask him to contact the Indian consulate in Dubai, if he is still there. Remember, the Dubai immigration department will not be issued a visa to the passport holder if the passport is not valid for six months minimum. I believe he got an offer letter and the proposed employer is ready to give him a work visa.

So advise him to contact the consulate ASAP with the offer/employment letter, definitely they will extend the validity of passport on urgent basis for further one year without the confirmation/verification from the Kerala passport authorities. It will take hardly two days to complete the renewing procedures.

I hope the above information will help and it will workout.

Good luck.

Sis! You have not seen the other side of Chennai. It is common in most places and other cities, there is a big underground network. In movies you will see big size guys in reality they are sleek and slim and professional killers. They are covered under political blanket and know how the law & order works. Someone will take responsibility for their mis deeds. They do pay off that family and take good care of their needs, sometime they do interstate and intrastate operations. I didn't watch that movie and I am not planning too, Chennai is good but these kinda problem is always a nemesis to society. I wish I had the police dept under my control. When govt changes, they play low profile or move to other state to get away from law. Most of their lives end miserably bad, but that is what they sowed. They hail from many places in all states. I would say 50% real and 50% exaggeration.

Rather than running around Chennai & Kerala, seeking help from Passport offices, I suggest you tell your brother to submit his passport to the Indian Embassy there in Dubai for renewal. This is the easiest route.
If the company is as good as you say, then definetly he can rely on the company to provide all help and expenses in this regard.
Good Luck!

Your brother might have applied for passport under Tatkal. If passport is issued without Police verificiation, it is for 1 yr. validity. He can ask for extension from SVP to FVP.
