They're called postal codes and consist of two groups of three characters, letters and numbers alternating. Each province starts with a different letter and each area is differentiated by other numbers and letters.

It's called a POSTAL CODE not a zip code. Not everything revolves around the states you know.

in canada they are called postal codes here is mine L8V 3Y1 my brother's L8V 1Z6 ( it is a letter, number, letter,number,letter,number)
